摘要： A fluid flow control valve includes a valve body with a fluid flow lumen therethrough and a valve member located within the fluid flow lumen. At least one of the valve body and valve member is resilient and respectively sized for movement between a normally closed position in which the valve member and a fluid lumen surface are in sufficient annular contact to block fluid flow through the fluid flow lumen and an open position in which at least one of the valve body and valve member flexes to a spaced apart position that allows fluid flow between them. Downstream fluid pressure may contact the valve body to enhance sealing. A fluid absorbent member may also be employed with the valve body. Flow control devices, such as medical fluid injection devices, and methods may employ this valve.

摘要： The invention generally relates to a continuous anesthesia nerve conduction apparatus and method thereof, and more particularly to a method and system for use in administering a continuous flow or intermittent bolus of anesthetic agent to facilitate a continuous or prolonged nerve block. In one embodiment, the apparatus includes a sheath having a proximal end, a distal end and at least one lumen extending from the proximal end to the distal end. The sheath also includes an embedded conductive element for transmitting an electrical signal from a proximal portion of the sheath to a distal portion of the sheath. A cannula is arranged in the at least one lumen of the sheath and has a distal end protruding from a distal portion of the sheath. The cannula is electrically coupled to at least a portion of the embedded conductive element and is configured to provide nerve stimulation.

Embodiments may include a loading sequence, recording loading pulse width modulation (PWM) commands applied to an infusion pump motor during the loading sequence, setting a value of threshold PWM commands based on the commands applied during the loading sequence and comparing values of operational PWM commands applied during pumping operations to the value of the threshold PWM commands. If the value of the operational PWM commands drops below the threshold by a predetermined amount, a missing infusion cartridge warning may be generated.

摘要： A method is described for reducing a dead volume of a microfluidic circuit (100) that includes, in one embodiment, a reservoir (102), an outlet, and a microfluidic flowpath (112,114) fluidly connecting the reservoir and the outlet. The method includes providing a microfluidic flow component (106,116,130) between the reservoir and the outlet for performing a function and in fluidic communication with the microfluidic flowpath, wherein the microfluidic flow component includes a total volume including a working volume and a dead volume. The working volume is a volume necessary for the microfluidic flow component to perform the function and the dead volume is a volume unnecessary for the microfluidic flow component to perform the function. The method includes configuring at least one of the reservoir, the microfluidic flowpath, and the microfluidic flow component to reduce the dead volume, such that the working volume of the component is substantially the same as the total volume.
