    • The invention relates to a known method for purifying SiO2-particles. A bed of the particles is heated in a reactor with a vertically oriented middle axis and is thus exposed to a treatment gas which is guided through the reactor and the bed from the bottom to the top and with a given flow rate. Based thereupon, the aim of the invention is to provide an improved purification method and a simple device suitable therefor. According to the invention, a chlorous treatment gas which is adjusted to a treatment temperature of at least 1,000 DEG C in the area of the bed is used for the purification method. The flow rate is adjusted to at least 10 cm/s. According to the inventive device for carrying out the inventive method, a gas shower is provided for the gas supply. The gas shower is provided with a plurality of nozzle openings which are distributed laterally in relation to the middle axis, are arranged underneath the bed and serve for introducing the treatment gas into the bed. The SiO2-granulation purified according to the inventive method consists of naturally occurring raw material and is characterised by an iron content of less than 20 wt. ppb, preferably less than 5 ppb, a manganese content of less than 30 wt. ppb, preferably 5 ppb, a lithium content of less than 50 ppb, preferably 5 ppb, and a chromium, copper and nickel content of less than 20 wt. ppb, preferably 1 ppb, respectively.
