摘要： A connector (1) connects an air-inflatable mattress (4) with alternately inflatable cells (11, 12) to a pump. Air-supply lines (13, 14) from the pump are attached to male body parts (2) of connector (1). Air-supply lines (15, 16) from mattress (4) connect to passages (17, 18) of female body parts (3) of the connector (1). When the male body parts (2) and the female body parts (3) are engaged, supply lines (13, 14) are in fluid communication with fluid lines (15, 16) via passages (17, 18) in the female body part (3). When the male body parts (2) are removed from the connector (1) to disconnect the air supply, one-way valves (7) seal the air-supply lines (13, 14) and expose a cross-connect port (8) interconnecting the female body part passages (17, 18). Thus cells (11, 12) are interconnected and the pressure is equalised throuthout the mattress (4). The invention provides a self-sealing automatic transport mode connection system as soon as the male body parts (2) are disengaged from the mattress (4), thus eliminating user error.

摘要： A head support apparatus (10) when positioning a person in a prone position comprises a base (199) slidable under a support surface. The base (11) has a central supporting post (12) supporting a frame (16) carrying a head support tray (18). A pressure reducing ring (23) is mounted on the head support tray (18) by straps (24). Contact points along the surface of the pressure reducing ring (23) are protected by a fitted pads (25) designed to improve comfort levels for the user. The pressure reducing ring (23) is clear and comprises a multi-channel air bladder to allow alternating inflating and deflation of the individual chambers to provide pressure relief. The visual and physical access to the users head and facial area is maintained at all times. The structure is self stabilising and can be used with most bed frames, or independently.

摘要： A pressure pad (1) has two sets of cells (11, 12) with a sensor pad (8) positioned under the pad (1). During inflation, part of the flow goes to the sensor pad (8) to exhaust and the rest fills the cells (11 or 12). Any change in patient position/weight causing a change in airflow in tube (10) will alter the differential pressure measured at the pressure transducer (16). Based on this feedback the microprocessor directly controls the power level to the pump (6) thus adjusting the airflow to the cells to prevent bottoming or to rung at a minimum pressure. The pressure pad (1) is segmented into a heel section, upper leg section, torso section, and a head section. The heel, head and upper leg sections are maintained at a lower pressure P1 and the torso section at a higher pressure P2. A control module (50) to control the flow in the segments is provided inside the pressure pad (1). The pressure pad (1) can be an alternating or static pad.
