摘要： A pad (10) of interleaving linear cells (2) has loop straps (1) to hold the central section of the cells (2) linearly in parallel with the cell axis (11), whilst the opposite ends (3) of each cell (2) are secured a pre-determined distance (4) off-set from the cell axis (11). The distance (4) can vary along the length of the pad. By fixing of the ends (3) of the cells (2) at a distance (4) away from the cell axis, each end (3) of the cell (2) is pulled away from the centre axis of the cell, the loop straps (1) and the cell (2) become tensioned, preventing the central cell section from moving or rotating. The resulting cell has been seen to dramatically reduce the movement of a user along the pad with improved user comfort and enhanced pressure relief.

As the lead screw (31) is rotated one way the nuts (33, 34) are driven apart extending the scissor link mechanism, and when rotated in the opposite direction, the nuts (33, 34) are driven toward one another, retracting the scissor link mechanism. The columns (14) consists of scissor link fixing brackets (21, 26) and a central cover (28) which slide within each other, providing a very low height when the scissor mechanism is retracted.

The pad (10) has a shut-off connector (6) at one corner which locates and is connected to a pressure relief valve (8). 摘要： A support surface 10 includes a series of inflatable cells 30, 40 inflated alternately by a compressor 11. The cells 30, 40 are exhausted via an exhaust port 50 having a restrictor 60 of known diameter. A pressure transducer 70 measures the cell 30, 40 pressure. Some of the cells 30, 40 during their deflating/inflating cycle are exhausted through the exhaust port 50 and the cell pressure decay over a time is monitored. A microprocessor calculates the mathematical function related to the cell pressure decay with time, compares the value with compiled data and adjusts the output of the compressor accordingly. The sequence of exhausting via port 50 is repeated at every inflation/deflation cycle and the pressure decay monitored and compared with the known data and the compressor output adjusted automatically to provide a new operating pressure. Therefore, any changes in the person's position i.e. supine, to side or sitting are accomodated by the cell pressure automatically being adjusted to prevent bottoming or high interface pressures.

摘要： A lifting device for lowering and raising a person into and out of a bath includes a base 20 having suction pads 3 at its extremities. A column 21 fits into a recess within the base 20 and supports a seat 22 movable along its length by means of a motor driven actuator housed within the column 21.
The seat consists of a backrest 13 and a support surface 14 and upon being lowered into the bath, contacts a latch 2 on the base which allows the entire seat including the backrest 13 and the support surface 14 to pivot backwards towards the column 21. Thus, the seat backrest is reclined for more comfortable bathing and also the support surface is tilted so that the bodyweight of the user is more evenly spread between the back, the thighs and buttocks.
The base 20, column 21 and seat 22 are dismantable for ease of storage and transport.
