摘要： A patterned indicator (100) is provided which contains latent information. The patterned indicator (100) includes a first substrate (114) having first and second surfaces (116, 118), the first surface (116) having a uniform pattern printed on an ink (128) thereon. A second transparent substrate (122) having first and second surfaces (124, 126) is also provided. An adhesive activator (130) is provided on the first surface (124) of the second substrate (122). The indicator (100) is activated by placement of the first surfaces (116, 124) of the first and second substrates (114, 122) into adhesive contact such that the ink (128) and adhesive activator (130) coact to cause the ink pattern to gradually bleed and blend together to cause a change visually perceptible through the transparent substrate (122) in a selected time interval. A preferred embodiment of the invention is a parking permit (100), while other preferred embodiments include transit tickets (200), admission tickets (154), time passage indicators for other applications. Also within the scope of this invention are patterned indicators (270) printed with inks having multiple sensitivities for indicating tampering with goods in packages sealed with such indicators.

摘要： A self-expiring Security Identification Badge is provided. The badge includes a base substrate (11) having a void indicia area (14). Also included is an ink substrate (30) having an expired indicia area (34) of a soluble ink and an adhesive surface (32). Also included is an overlay substrate (40) having an ink dissolver (42) and a display surface (44). When the I.D. Badge is issued, the inked substrate (30) is attached to the base substrate (11), with the inked substrate (30) covering the void indicia area (14). The overlay substrate (40) is then placed over and attached to the inked substrate (30), with the ink dissolver (42) in contact with the soluble ink (34) of the inked substrate (30). The ink dissolver (42) of the overlay substrate (40) contacts and coats with the soluble ink (34) of the inked substrate (30) to dissolve the ink and allow the ink to migrate through the overlay substrate (40) to the display surface (44), where it can be visually perceived, in a preselected time interval.
