摘要： A controller, in electrical communication with the one or more of the injectors and a high-pressure fuel pump, generates a first signal responsive to which the valve in the injector opens or closes and a second signal responsive to which the high- pressure fuel pump increases or decreases the pressure level in the fuel accumulator. The system may also include one or more sensors for detecting a temperature of air in an air manifold, a pressure within the air manifold and a barometric pressure. The controller is programmed to estimate an in-cylinder gas density using data received from the sensors. The controller accesses a database having data representative of one or predetermined in-cylinder gas densities that are associated with one or more predetermined fuel injection parameters. The controller then generates one or more commands indicative of the fuel injection parameters that are associated with a predetermined in-cylinder gas density.

The method allows for monitoring a signal indicative of a fuel value delivered by the fuel pump (56) based on first set of operational and environmental conditions. The method further allows for adjusting the value of the monitored signal for deviations from an estimated nominal fuel value based on a second set of operational and environmental conditions to generate an adjusted fuel value. The method further allows for comparing the value of the adjusted fuel value against the nominal fuel value to determine the performance of the pump.

摘要： A system for automated water drainage in a fuel system includes a fuel-water separator (24), a water sensor (26), first (28) and second (30) drain valves, a drain pressure sensor (32), and a control system (34), which is operably connected to the first and second drain valves, the water sensor, and the drain pressure sensor. The water sensor is disposed in the fuel-water separator for detecting the presence of water. The first drain valve is in fluid communication with the fuel-water separator, and the second drain valve is in fluid communication with the first drain valve; a fluid duct (36) connects the first and second drain valves. The drain pressure sensor is positioned in the fluid duct, for detecting pressure levels in the fluid duct. The control system automatically operates the first and second drain valves, for removing purge liquid from the fuel-water separator, based on signal outputs of the water sensor and the drain pressure sensor.

摘要： A system is provided for removing particulate matter from a diesel particulate filter. The diesel particulate filter includes at least one diesel particulate filter unit to filter particulate matter from diesel engine exhaust gas received from a diesel engine. The system includes a sensor positioned adjacent to at least one diesel particulate filter unit, where the sensor is configured to determine the extent of particulate matter trapped within the diesel particulate filter unit. The system further includes an engine controller coupled to the sensor and the diesel engine, where the sensor is configured to output a first alert signal to the engine controller upon determining that the trapped particulate matter exceeds a predetermined threshold. The engine controller is configured to increase the temperature of the diesel exhaust gas entering the diesel particulate filter upon receiving the first alert signal.

摘要： A common rail fuel injection apparatus (1) for a multi-bank, diesel locomotive engine (10). A common rail (20, 22) is disposed proximate each bank (20, 22) of cylinders (12) of the engine to provide high pressure fuel (30) to a fuel flow control apparatus (14) associated with each respective cylinder. A plurality of high-pressure fuel pumps (34) provides high-pressure fuel to at least one of the common rails. A fluid cross connection (38) is provided to convey high pressure fuel between the two common rails, thereby providing for the continued delivery of fuel to all cylinders in the event of a failure of one of the high pressure pumps. The high-pressure pumps are motivated by fuel lobes (64) located on camshaft sections (50a, 50b, 50c) adjoined at a gear driven end 58 of the camshaft (50). Camshaft sections (50d, 50e, 50f) adjoined at an idler end (60) of the camshaft carry lower torque loads than those sections having fuel lobes and may be formed from a lower strength material or may have a smaller shaft diameter.

摘要： A system (410') is provided for removing particulate matter from a diesel particulate filter (414'). The system includes an engine controller (429') coupled to a diesel engine (411'), and to a locomotive controller (444').The locomotive controller ' includes an algorithm /program to create a trip plan to optimize the performance of the locomotive (441') along a route in accordance with a power setting of the diesel engine at each location along the route. Sensors (420 ',422') are configured to output a first alert signal to the engine controller once the trapped particulate matter exceeds a predetermined threshold. Upon receiving the first alert signal the engine controller communicates with the locomotive controller to determine a time region or distance region within the trip plan when the power setting exceeds a power threshold. The engine controller increases the temperature of the diesel exhaust gas entering the diesel particulate filter during the time region or distance region.
