摘要： The invention relates to a method and an device for executing control and monitoring measurements in optical transmission paths (101, 111) serving to measure or control parameters of the transmission path (101, 111) during regular operation and without disrupting the latter and to monitor the transmission path (101, 111) for detecting attempted tapping. To this end, a control signal is injected into the transmission path (101, 111) parallel to the transmission signal, said control signal having a wavelength differing from that of the transmission signal. After passing through the transmission path (101, 111), the signal is reflected back and evaluated. In order to reflect the control signal, a wavelength-selective reflecting device (108, 112) is used which transmits the transmission signal practically without any interference, e.g. a dichroic mirror (109). The reflected control signal is detected by a detection device (105) and evaluated for polarization, intensity, signal shape and other properties, whereby the properties of the transmission path can be determined and/or unwarranted manipulation of the transmission system can be detected.

摘要： When an optical impulse with any polarisation is transmitted through an optical transmission system which is optically anisotropic at least in sections, the optical impulse is generally distorted due to the different speeds for the different polarisation components. This distortion of the optical impulses reduces the maximum transmission of the system in particular. This can be resolved with a method in which a polarisation setting device for setting the polarisation of the optical impulse is controlled in such a way as to maximise the transmission performance, in accordance with the determined transmission performance of the transmission system; and with an optical transmission system comprising an optical transmission medium, a device for determining the transmission performance of the transmission system, a regulating device and a polarisation setting device. The output signal of the device for determining the transmission performance of the transmission system is adjacent to the regulating device which controls the polarisation setting device for modifying the polarisation of the optical impulses in such a way as to optimise the transmission performance.

摘要： The phase modulator in the laser resonator requires both at the input and at the output defined linearly polarized light which has to be generated. Hitherto, this was brought about in a complex and expensive manner using polarization actuators. The invention provides a combination of dispersion compensation and definition of the linear polarization state in a dispersion compensation fibre (PM-DC fibre) which is birefringent at such a high level that only the two orthogonal linear polarization states can be diffused therein. The invention can be used for mode-locked fibre lasers in which the time pulse width has to be as small as possible.

摘要： The invention relates to a single-mode low-dispersion optical fiber for wavelength division multiplexing (WDM) of an optical transmission link, comprising a central fiber core with a radius r1, two inner layers of cladding with an outer radius r2 or a, whereby a is greater than r2, and an outer layer of cladding, whereby the refractive index n(r) of the fibers is inconstant as a function of the fibre radius r (a triple clad fiber). A fiber with a low dispersion in the wavelength range of approximately 1400 - 1700 nm, i.e. in the third optical window, can be manufactured using conventional production methods by selecting the appropriate profile and refractive index differentials between the core and or cladding without increasing the attenuation of said fibers. The transmission quality and output of an optical transmission link is increased by the inventive fibers in comparison with other standard optical fibers.

摘要： The invention concerns a method of manipulating a compensation fibre such that it can compensate the high negative dispersion of a fibre laser in the second optical window. According to the invention, the active fibre of the fibre laser is linked to a compensation fibre which consists of a step-index quartz glass core with a sheathing. By doping the compensation fibre sheathing with fluorine in a targeted manner, a positive value is set for the dispersion of the compensation fibre. Subsequent dimensioning of the length of the compensation fibre increases the set dispersion value to the positive dispersion value necessary for complete compensation of the dispersion of the fibre laser.

摘要： The invention relates to a method for measuring relevant parameters of individual fibres of single-mode and multi-mode fibres of glass-fibre or plastic-fibre cables. According to said method the measuring beam is reflected at the end of the fibre (3) to be tested by means of a mirror, especially a Schmidt mirror (1) with a very high reflective power (⊃ 99 %), towards the fibre input and the measurement taken at the coupling site by means of a combined transmitter/receiver device. In this way, especially in the case of long cables, the physical separation of the transmitting and receiving station of the measuring system required to date is avoided. The Schmidt mirror (1) is connected to the fibre (3) to be tested via a fibre connector (2). The highly reflective mirror surface is applied to the face of a connector of choice in such a way that the Schmidt connector (4) provided with the mirror surface is connected to the test fibre (3) either directly or via a short section of glass-fibre cable fitted with a normal connector (5) and the Schmidt-mirror connector (4). The advantage of using a section of glass-fibre cable configured in this way is that the Schmidt-mirror connector (4) remains untouched and is protected.
