    • A method for controlling an internal combustion engine (100) operating at least partly on gaseous fuel with a varying gas quality (400) is disclosed. The internal combustion engine (100) includes a gaseous fuel admission valve (58) configured to supply the gaseous fuel to charge air. The method comprises operating (step 600) the internal combustion engine (100) to provide a preset power output with a valve opening duration (402) of the gaseous fuel admission valve (58) set within a preferred valve opening duration range (404). The method further comprises allowing (step 602) the valve opening duration (402) to change in order to maintain the preset power output, monitoring (step 604) the valve opening duration (402) and determining (step 606) that, during operation of the internal combustion engine (100) at the predetermined power output, the valve opening duration (402) changed to a value outside the preferred valve opening duration range (404). The method further comprises adapting (steps 610, 614, 618) a fuel supply parameter (412, 503, 507) such that the valve opening duration (402) returns to the preferred valve opening duration range (404), while continuously providing the preset power output.

    • The present disclosure refers to a gas fuel admission system (1) for a gas fired engine (5). A gas pressure regulating unit (15) includes a gas pressure regulating unit inlet (20) and a gas pressure regulating unit outlet (25). The gas pressure regulating unit (15) is configured to receive gas having a supply pressure at the gas pressure regulating inlet (20) and to discharge the gas at an injection pressure at the gas pressure regulating unit outlet (25). An engine gas inlet (6) is configured to direct gas into the at least one combustion chamber (10). A gas admission valve (40) has a valve inlet (45) and a valve outlet (50), the valve inlet (45) being fluidly connected to the gas pressure regulating unit outlet (25) via a gas supply conduit (35) and the valve outlet (50) being fluidly connected to the engine gas inlet (6). The gas admission valve (40) is configured to admit the gas having an injection pressure at a predetermined time for a predetermined duration into the engine gas inlet. A gas pressure relief device (60) is fluidly connected to the gas conduit (35) and it is configured to relieve overpressure of the gas in the gas supply conduit (35), if a pressure differential between the injection gas pressure and the intake air pressure is above a predetermined threshold. The disclosure also refers to a method for avoiding engine shutdowns of a gas fired engine (1) as a consequence of load rejection events, and to a power generation unit (100) as well as to a gas pressure relief device (60).

    • The present disclosure refers to a fuel injection system (5) for supplying fuel at a high pressure to an internal combustion engine (500). It includes at least a first and a second high-pressure fuel pump (100, 200) configured to pump fuel (105, 205) at a high pressure into a high-pressure fuel distribution line system (300) connected with the internal combustion engine (500). Each of the high-pressure fuel pumps (100, 200) is configured to be operated in a first pump mode and a second pump mode, such that in the first pump mode a first amount of fuel (105, 205) is pumped, said first amount of fuel being associated with a first engine output, and in the second pump mode a second amount of fuel (105, 205), said second amount of fuel being associated with a second engine output which is greater than the first output, is pumped. A control unit (400) is configured to alternately operate the at least two high-pressure fuel pumps (100, 200) such that during a first time period at least the first high-pressure fuel pump (100, 200) is operated in the first pump mode and at least the second high-pressure fuel pump (100, 200) is simultaneously operated in the second pump mode, and such that, during a second time period at least the second high-pressure fuel pump (100, 200) is operated in the first pump mode and at least the first high-pressure fuel pump (100, 200) is simultaneously operated in the second pump mode.
