    • A heavy duty pneumatic tire comprising a tread having a treading surface (1) provided with three or more zigzag grooves (3,2,3) extending in a tire-circumferential direction, wherein opposed groove walls (4,5) of each of at least the zigzag grooves (3) which are located nearest to axial edges of said tread are each bent in a radially outer area spaced from the bottom (3a) of the zigzag groove as viewed in a tire-widthwise sectional plane, and the following inequalities are satisfied.

      in which:

      (i) H is the radial depth of the zigzag groove (3), and h is the depth of a location where the groove wall is bent, as measured from an outer contour surface of the tread,
      (ii) α₁, β₁, γ₁ and δ₁ define angles of a portion of the zigzag groove (3) which is bent to axially outwardly project toward a shoulder portion of the tire,
      (iii) α₂, β₂, γ₂ and δ₂ define angles of a portion of the zigzag groove (3) which is bent to axially inwardly project toward a central portion of the tire.

    • A pneumatic tire (10) has a block pattern in which at least three block rows each comprised of a plurality of blocks separated from each other in the circumferential direction of the tire are arranged in a tread portion of the tire so as to be separate from each other in the widthwise direction of the tire.     • A block (1) for a pneumatic tire has a substantially rectangular contour as a whole, a ratio of the width (W) of the block to that of a tread in a range of 0.10 to 0.30, and a ratio of the length (L) of the block to the width of the tread in a range of 0.075 to 0.250. At least a wall (2) of the block on a stepping-in side is inclined in a range of 10° to 45° relative to a meridian line (Y-Y) of the tire. The surface of the block is provided with a single sipe (4) opening at widthwise opposite side edges of the block. The widthwise projected length b of that portion of the sipe which is located on the stepping-in side while not overlapping the other portion is set at not more than 0.35 a in which a is the entire length of the sipe projected in the width direction of the tread.

    • A shoulder block (1) includes a thin groove (2) formed substantially at the center in the circumferential direction of a tread, transverse sipes (4) circumferentially spaced from the thin groove (2), and at least one circumferential sipe (3) extending substantially circumferentially without intersecting the thin groove (2) or the transverse sipes (3), in such a manner that a circumferential component of the circumferential sipe is greater than its transverse component.
