摘要： A pressure or vacuum swing adsorption process and apparatus are used for the separation and recovery of certain gaseous components, such as carbon dioxide from hot gas mixtures containing water vapor. The process comprises introducing the feed gas mixture at an elevated temperature into a feed end of an adsorber column containing an adsorbent. The adsorbent preferentially adsorbs at least one adsorbable component. An adsorber effluent, depleted of the at least one adsorbable component, is withdrawn from a product end of the adsorber column. The adsorber column is depressurized below atmospheric pressure and then purged with steam to withdraw an effluent comprising a mixture of the at least one adsorbable component and H 2 O. Next, the adsorber column is pressurized by introducing a gas that is depleted of the at least one adsorbable component. The steps are repeated in a cyclic manner.

摘要： A process for producing carbon monoxide (CO) by reforming methane and steam in the presence of a reforming catalyst to produce a reformate product enriched in CO, carbon dioxide(CO2) and hydrogen. CO2 in the enriched reformate is shifted to CO in an integrated sorption enhanced reaction (SER) cycle which employs a series of cyclic steps to facilitate reaction of CO2 and hydrogen at high conversion and to produce a CO-enriched product obtained at reactor feed pressure and at essentially constant flow rate A series of adsorbent regeneration step including depressurization, purging and product pressurization are used to desorb water which is selectively adsorbed by the adsorbent during the shift reaction and to prepare the reactor for a subsequent process cycle.

摘要： The present invention is a process for operating equilibrium controlled reactions in continuous mode wherein a feedstock is reacted in a plurality of reactors containing an admixture of a desired process catalyst and an adsorbent to form a product which is selectively adsorbed by the adsorbent and an admixture containing a product which is withdrawn from the reactor. A series of separation steps is used to desorb the product which is selectively adsorbed by the adsorbent and to prepare the reactor for a subsequent process cycle. The process utilizes a novel series of adsorption and desorption steps to collect the less selectively adsorbed product in substantially pure form under relatively constant flow rate at feedstock pressure.

摘要： Adjusted gas compositions having two or more components in desired proportions for particular industrial uses are obtained from available feed gas mixtures accompanied by recovery of one or more valuable individual gases of high purity, by a novel selective adsorption-desorption scheme carried out in a multi-column PSA system. Following initial adsorption of one or more components from the feed gas mixture at high pressure the sorbate-laden column is subjected to a high pressure rinse using as rinse gas the previously recovered more strongly adsorbed species. After the rinsing step, the column is depressured to a selected level and purged with part of the unsorbed gas effluent discharged during the initial adsorption step until a preset amount of the earlier sorbed gas is recovered in the purge effluent as the readjusted binary gas mixture of desired proportions. As an example, there is disclosed the production from a starting gas mixture rich in hydrogen and carbon monoxide, such as that obtained from steam-methane reforming, an industrially useful gas mixture having a desired H₂/CO ratio with the accompanying individual recovery of high purity hydrogen and carbon monoxide as by-products.

摘要： A system and method of controlling a vacuum swing adsorption process. During an adsorption step, the percent composition of the gas being processed is sensed as it is introduced into at least one train of beds which comprises a pretreatment bed and an air fractionation bed. The control system terminates the adsorption step when a predetermined high level oxygen composition is detected. During a rinse step the percent composition of the high purity nitrogen in the train is sensed . The control system terminates the rinse step when a predetermined low level oxygen composition is detected. During an evacuation step, the level of pressure in the train is sensed and predetermined subatmospheric pressure levels are detected for terminating evacuation in first, the air fractionation bed, and second, the pretreatment bed. During a pressurization step, the pressure level in the pretreatment bed is sensed and the control system terminates the pressurization in the train when a predetermined pressure level is detected in the pretreatment bed.
