    • The invention relates to a method for the non-invasive measurement of the gas content of at least one gas, selected from O
      2 , CO
      2 , amines, nitrogen oxides, and sulfur compounds, in transparent containers composed of plastic films, glass, or other light-permeable materials, in which method a sensor material sensitive to the gas content in the interior of the packaging is excited by excitation light incident thereon to emit a fluorescent or luminescent light, the emitted fluorescent or luminescent light is detected in a detection apparatus that interacts with the sensor, whereupon the packaged materials or produced materials are subjected to sorting and possibly counting in dependence on a gas content determined in an evaluating unit coupled to the detection apparatus, comprising the following steps: a) possibly deep-drawing the packaging; b) attaching a sensor material to an inner face of a cover for the packaging or to the inner face of the packaging and possibly drying the sensor material; c) introducing the materials to be packaged into the packaging; d) closing the packaging in gas-tight manner, while introducing a modified atmosphere of the gas to be measured, by means of the cover; e) placing the packing on a conveying and sorting apparatus; f) exciting the sensor material by means of at least one excitation light source arranged at a defined distance from the packaging; g) detecting, in a contactless manner, the intensity of the fluorescent or luminescent light emitted by the sensor material in dependence on the gas content in the interior of the packaging by means of a detection apparatus arranged at a defined distance from the conveying apparatus, during conveying of the packaging to a sorting apparatus; h) electrically or electronically converting a measured value captured in the detection apparatus in the evaluating unit; i) possibly applying a pressure to the packaging and performing steps f) to h) anew; j) outputting a confirmation signal or rejection signal by means of the evaluating unit, and k) forwarding the packagings to a further-processing operation or a disposal operation in dependence on the gas content in the packaging calculated by the evaluating unit. The invention further relates to a device therefor.
