摘要： This invention provides a safety system for electrically operated kitchen appliances such as blenders, food processors and the like, to protect users from contact with cutting or macerating implements which, in operation of such appliances, are rotated at reasonably high speeds by means of powerful electric motors. In order to provide a reliable and robust safety system which is economical to manufacture, the invention utilises a detent member (30, 50) which is rotatable with either the motor or the implement (80). A trapping member (110 , 130), which is mobile between two positions along the motor’s axis of rotation, but which cannot rotate, traps or releases the detent member, depending upon the trapping member’s position. The trapping member (110 . 130) is moved into the position at which the detent member (30 , 50) is released only when a container (110) is correctly inserted into place to contain the implement. The invention also provides an electrically powered kitchen appliance incorporating such a safety system.

The system also includes a passive limb which incorporates a rotary component (10); the two limbs being mounted in fixed relationship to one another. A first speed reduction mechanism (11) couples the shaft (5) to the rotary component (10) of the passive limb and a second speed reduction mechanism (12) couples the said rotary component (10) to the second drive outlet (14). Conveniently, the rotary component (10) comprises a further shaft, disposed substantially parallel to the driven shaft (5) of said motor (3), and both limbs of the system are rigidly mounted to, and supported by, a common framework of support members, including an upper mounting plate (6). Both speed reduction mechanisms (11, 12) are typically belt driven, and may provide identical reductions; and the two mechanisms are mounted close to one another and to the upper mounting plate (6).

摘要： This invention provides a kitchen appliance for making bread and, in particular, a blade arrangement for kneading or mixing ingredients in a container prior to and/or during the baking process. Blade arrangements are known in which a generally flat blade can assume a generally upright (raised) position during a mixing phase and a substantially flat (rest) position during a subsequent baking phase. In order to ensure reliable and automatic deployment of the blade into its generally upright position for mixing, the invention provides a blade arrangement having a blade (8) formed with first (11) and second (9) substantially planar portions; the first portion being a leading portion (11) with respect to a first direction of motion of the arrangement relative to the ingredients and being inclined to the second portion (9) such that pressures resulting from contact between the inclined portion of the blade and the ingredients during such motion raises the blade towards the generally upright position. In preferred embodiments, the first portion (11) is inclined to the second portion (9) at an angle (α) in the range from 27 degrees to 47 degrees inclusive.

摘要： A domestic water filtration jug having upper and lower body parts for receiving, respectively, tap water and filtered water; the jug supporting in its upper body part a hopper (1) capable of accommodating a filter cartridge (3) placed so that water received in the hopper can reach the lower body part only by flowing through the cartridge. The jug has on opposing sides thereof, a handle (28) and a spout (4), communicating only with the lower body part, through which filtered water can be poured. The jug is provided with a lid (5) formed, towards the spout, with an aperture (6) through which water can be introduced into the hopper. The lid also carries a manually slidable closure plate (12) for selectively opening and closing the aperture and a display (20,24) permanently indicating, by means of rotary movement, relative to the lid, of a rotatable member (20) which bears a visible indicator (24), the current state of usage of the cartridge. A mechanism is provided to link the slidable movement of said closure plate (12) to the rotary movement of said indicator (24) to cause automatic, incremental and unidirectional rotary movements of said indicator relative to the lid (5) in response to respective sliding movements of said closure plate. The mechanism incorporates a toothed wheel (20,23) rotated by engagement of said teeth (23) by a pawl (25) which is moved when the closure plate moves, and a stop member (26), supported by a fixed portion of the lid (5), and also engaging the teeth (23) of said toothed wheel, which resists rotary movement of said indicator (24) in the opposite rotational direction to said unidirectional rotary movements.
