摘要： A nozzle design for diffusing high pressure steam into by flowing process fluid of substantially lower pressure while reducing the noise intensity generated. The injection nozzles (3) include an opening having a first diameter (D1) to receive steam and a second diameter (D2) to inject the steam into a flow of liquid. The diameters (D1, D2) of the first and second openings can vary relative to each other to enhance the flow characteristics of the steam or other gas being injected into a flow of liquid. The outer surface (98) of a diffuser tube (2, 6) is coated with an insulating material, such as plastic. In alternate embodiments, the orientation of the injection holes (3, 5) can be angled either upstream or downstream to further enhance mixing characteristics of the steam.

摘要： A radial flow steam injection heater (10) that injects a selected amount of steam into a product flow to heat the product flow. The steam injection heater includes a mixing tube (32) that receives the product flow to be heated. The mixing tube (32) includes a series of steam injection holes (70) that are positioned within a steam chamber (56) defined by the heater body (62). Pressurized steam within the steam chamber (56) flows into the mixing tube (32) in a direction transverse to the flow axis through the steam injection holes (78). A regulating member (70) is selectively movable relative to the mixing tube (32) to expose the steam injection holes to the steam chamber (56) to control the amount of steam utilized to heat the product flow.

The steam injection heater includes a Mach diffuser (321) having a plurality of steam diffusion holes (338) and an adjustable steam-plug cover (330) that is positioned within a stationary diffuser tube (336) to modulate the amount of steam added to the flowing stock by exposing a desired number of steam diffusion holes (338). The steam tube assembly includes an O-ring (346) that forms a seal along the inner wall of the diffuser tube (336) to prevent the flow of stock into the steam tube assembly when steam pressure is not present. Select areas of the steam injection heater, including the deflection plate (349), diffuser tube (336) and heater body inner wall are coated with a wear coating such as tungsten carbide. Further, a pair of pressure ports (350) are formed in the steam-plug cover (330) to equalize the pressure between the open interior of the steam-plug cover (330) to further facilitate rotation of the steam-plug cover (330).

摘要： A direct contact steam injection heater (10) that includes a steam diffuser (58) having a plurality of steam diffusion holes (80) that are selectively exposed by a regulating member (84) to control the amount of steam used to heat a liquid. The regulating member is movable within the steam diffuser and includes a seating member (112) to prevent the flow of steam from the diffuser when the regulating member is in a completely closed, seated position. A pair of sealing members (120, 122) surround the discharge region of the steam diffuser when the regulating member is in the closed position. The diameter of the steam diffusion holes and the distance between the steam diffuser and the inner wall of the heater body is selected to maintain a desired ratio to reduce bubbles that cause noise and vibration within the direct contact steam injection heater.
