摘要： The present invention relates to determining the stress level experienced by fish which can be used in assessing the welfare status of fish. More in particular, the present invention relates to the usage of scales sampled from fish to quantify glucocorticoid levels in said scales. The levels of said glucocorticoids -such as cortisol or corticosterone- build up over time in scales and reflect long lasting and stressful conditions which the fish have undergone during their lives and which have affect their level of stress. Hence, the present invention discloses in vitro methods to quantify the level of chronic stress in fish using scales as a logistic feasible, and non-invasive matrix for accurate and precise quantification of said stress hormones.

摘要： A process for isolating or extracting rare cells from a biological sample comprising filtering a biological sample, which may be treated or diluted, through a filter that has a pore size, pore density or other physical properties that retain rare cells, but which permits other kinds of cells to pass through the filter. This process also comprises multiple analyses performed on rare cells after their extraction or isolation by filtration to diagnostically identify the presence of rare cells in a biological sample and to use their diagnostic identification and molecular characterization for diagnostic purposes such as for early diagnosis of diseases, namely for early diagnosis of cancer and to select, guide, monitor treatments and in particular to select targeted treatments and to monitor the response and/or resistance to them. A kit comprising tools, equipment and/or reagents to accomplish both the filtration step and various kinds of multiple analyses performed after isolation and extraction of the rare cells by filtration.

The invention also provides methods for treating cancer in a subject by administering an effective amount of an Hsp90 inhibitor to the subject, wherein the subject has been selected based on a modulated level of hypoxia. The invention further provides kits to practice the methods of the invention.
