Um bei einfachem Aufbau die Verwendung einer eingebauten Feder bei geringstmöglicher Progression und ohne Vergrößerung der Baulänge, bezogen auf den nutzbaren Hub, zu gestatten, ist die Kolbenstange (6) als hohles Rohr ausgeführt, die Feder (7) zumindest über einen Teil ihrer axialen Ausdehnung innerhalb der Kolbenstange (6) aufgenommen und mit einem ersten Ende im Inneren der Bohrung in der Kolbenstange (6) und mit dem zweiten Ende am der Bohrung gegenüberliegenden Endstück (3) befestigt.

    • An electro-hydraulic operating system for an extensible boom (10) includes one or more hydraulic cylinders (TC1, TC2, TC3, TC2', TC3') for imparting relative motion between the boom sections (BS, IMS, CMS, OMS, FS) to retract the boom (10) according to an electronically stored program of sequences of movement and speeds. A source of pressurized hydraulic fluid (HT) is fed through appropriate control valves (MC, HV1, HV2, HV3, 50, V1) which include solenoid valves (V1, V2, V3) in fluid communication with a source of pressurized hydraulic fluid (HT). The solenoid control valves (MC, HV1, HV2, HV3, 50, V1) are supplied with control currents proportional to the desired flow rates of fluid to the hydraulic cylinders in order to achieve speed and position control according to the stored program. A metering valve (HV1, HV2, HV3) structure is provided for operation in conjunction with the solenoid control valves (MC, HV1, HV2, HV3, 50, V1). The metering valve (HV1, HV2, HV3) includes an associated pilot valve (52) which receives variable pressure signals from the solenoid control valves (MC, HV1, HV2, HV3, 50, V1) to achieve the metering of fluid to the hydraulic cylinders in proportion to the characteristics of the control current supplied to the solenoid valves (V1, V2, V3). The electrical control signals are such that the hydraulic cylinders (TC1, TC2, TC3, TC2', TC3') may move associated boom sections (BS, IMS, CMS, OMS, FS) at gradually increasing speeds during a starting period of any cycle of movement of the section, at a substantially constant speed during an intermediate period of movement and at a gradually decreasing speed during a stopping period preceding the end of the cycle of movement, thereby providing soft start and soft stop of the sections (BS, IMS, CMS, OMS, FS).

    • The ball end (16) of the piston rod (14) of a linear motor (6) is mounted in a ball block (52). The block (52) has mating housing portions (54, 56) that abut along mating surfaces (64) that are substantially parallel to, but slope relative to, the motor axis (X). One housing portion includes an integral rear wall (70) through which the axis (X) extends and which defines a portion of a socket (58) that receives the ball end (16). The other housing portion has a flange (78) that projects into a space between the socket (58) and a sloping extension (74) of the wall (70). The outer surface (76) of the wall (70) is secured to a fixed support (84). The wall (70) transmits loads carried by operation of the motor (6) from the ball end (16) directly to the support (84) and minimizes loads on the fasteners (68) securing the housing portions (54, 56) together. The housing portion that includes the wall (70) is made from a material with a high load carrying capability. The other portion is relatively easy to machine and includes a passageway to deliver fluid to the ball end (16). A reinforcing bar (150) extends rearwardly from the motor (6) through a channel formed by a floor member of a reciprocating floor conveyor.
