    • The clamping band manufacturing machine is capable of full-automatically manufacturing the clamping bands and highly increasing the manufacturing efficiency. The machine comprises a main machine part (8) and parts feeding mechanisms (20, 28, 50). In the main machine part (8), a band shaping stage (A) welds a clasp (12) on a band section (10), bends the band section (10) in an arc, and overlaps both end portions of the band section (10). A lever welding stage (B) welds a lever (14) and the overlapped portion of the band section (10). An examination stage (C) measures a length of an overlapped portion of the band section (10) and the lever (14). An arc shaping stage (D) bends the lever (14) in an arc. A circular shaping stage (E) expands the bent portion of the band section (10). A conveying mechanism (60, 82) synchronously conveying the band section (10) to each of the sages (A-E), which are serially arranged. The feeding mechanisms (20, 28, 50) feed the parts, e.g., the clasp (12), to the main machine part (8).

    • A clip and collected assembly thereof are provided and including a method of forming the clip and clip assembly. The clip (12) is formed with at least one slot (16) that has at least one projection for keeping a resilient cord press fit in the slot therein against forces tending to shift it out therefrom. Preferably, two parallel slots (12) are provided for receiving two cords (14) therein with there being two opposing projections (58,60) extending into the slot (12) opening from either side of the slot. The slot projections (58,60) provide an attendant manufacturing benefit as the punches (78) of the die press apparatus that punch slugs from the blank fed thereto will not suffer from slug pulling problems because of the presence of corresponding projections (58,60) extending into the die cavity openings from either side thereof. In addition, while the clearances between the projection of the die cavity and the punches (78) are at normal tight tolerances, the clearance between the cavity sides (84,86) and ends and the punches (78) are oversized so that burrs are formed on the corresponding clip slot (16) sides and ends for gripping the cord (14) and providing additional resistance to shifting in the slot. Improved configurations for the cords (14) are also provided to meet the tolerances required for the press fit in the slots (12) and to be readily severed by an application tool (34). Special shapes for the slot ends can be provided so that as the cords (14) are press fit therein, areas of weakness will be created in the cords to assist in the severing thereof. Preferred cord materials include those that will not bead when run through spring tempering heat treat ovens, such as nylon and PBT.
