摘要： A removal device for removing a hypodermic needle assembly (3) from a syringe (1), wherein the removal device comprises a sleeve (151) provided internally with a series of ribs (153) which engage with a series of ribs (19) on the needle assembly (3), or on an attachment adaptor (6) on the needle assembly (3), when the sleeve (151) is rotated to unscrew the needle assembly (3) from the syringe (2), the sleeve (151) having a clear passage (155) therethrough and having an internal diameter such that the needle assembly (3) and adaptor (6) thereon (if present) can pass freely through it in an axial direction. The sleeve (151) is removably engageable in a hollow shaft (141) through which the needle assembly and adaptor (if present) can drop to a "sharps" container below. The shaft (141) is integrally formed and is power-driven through a gear formation (47) on its external surface.
A manually-operated device is also described, having a fixed sleeve as described above in which the needle assembly is held while the syringe is unscrewed from it.
A preferred syringe (1) has an open end through which the cartridge (2) can drop when the needle assembly (3) is unscrewed from the syringe. The needle hub (5) or adaptor (6) has a skirt (18) which is internally screw-threaded to engage the front end of the syringe (1). The front end of the cartridge (2) lies within the skirt (18).
A removal device for conventional syringes and conventional needle assemblies is also described.

The retraction assembly includes a hypodermic needle having a needle hub, an end cap having a lower seal through which a portion of the hypodermic needle can pass, a retraction spring disposed between the needle hub and the end cap and maintained in a partially compressed condition therebetween, an upper seal urged against a facially sealing surface of the retraction assembly by the force of the retraction spring on the needle hub so that a sealed area is defined between the upper and lower seals, and a vent device in fluid communication with the sealed area for pressure equalization between the sealed area and an exterior of the retraction assembly.

The method also includes piercing the barrier portion and the barrier with the first penetrator, and displacing the second penetrator relative to the first penetrator and the sealing member to pierce the sealing member and establish the sterile connection with an interior of the container.

摘要： A liquid dispensing system for oral administration comprises a dispenser and cartridges from which medicine is dispensed. Each cartridge includes a hollow shell with a septum at one end, a piston at the other end, and the medicine in a cavity between the septum and the piston. The dispenser includes receiver in which a cartridge is received, a plunger that can slide relative to the receiver and that has a plunging head that can drive the piston, and a barrel in which the cartridge, receiver and plunger can be received, at least partly. Once a cartridge has been inserted into the receiver, the receiver and cartridge are inserted into the barrel and a piercing head ruptures the septum. The plunger is pushed to drive the piston and the medicine is dispensed by the piston, through a discharge passage of the barrel.
