摘要： An injection device which is devised to be safer in use than many prior such devices comprises a generally cylindrical barrel section (4, 42) which is substantially closed at its first end but has an aperture (6, 43) in that end to allow an injection needle (9, 41) to pass through it, a needle support member (10, 40, 60) to slide within the barrel section and shaped to receive one end of a liquid container such as an ampoule (12, 52, 61) of anaesthetic, and a plunger (7, 45, 62) mounted at the other end of the barrel section for axial movement in said section. The plunger is adapted both to express liquid from the liquid container when the plunger is advanced within the barrel and also to interconnect with either the needle support member of the liquid container, whereby withdrawal of the plunger withdraws both the liquid container and also the needle and its support member into the barrel section for disposal.

The container has a sealing member sealing a first end of the container, and a barrier sealing a chamber in fluid communication with the sealing member. The method includes providing a valve sleeve assembly that includes a flexible sleeve having a barrier portion at an end of the flexible sleeve, a hollow first penetrator disposed within the flexible sleeve, and a hollow second penetrator at least partially disposed within the first penetrator. An interior of the flexible sleeve is sterile. The method also includes piercing the barrier portion and the barrier with the first penetrator, and displacing the second penetrator relative to the first penetrator and the sealing member to pierce the sealing member and establish the sterile connection with an interior of the container.

摘要： A dispensing device and the method of making same for dispensing medicaments to a patient that includes a housing, a first assembly connected to the first end of the housing that includes a body portion, and a penetrating sub-assembly. The first assembly also includes a rate control chip of novel construction that is connected to the penetrating sub-assembly and functions to control the rate of flow of medicinal fluid to the patient. Disposed within the housing is a second assembly that includes a shuttle, a collapsible container carried by the shuttle and a plurality of variable force springs that function to thrust the collapsible container into penetrating engagement with the penetrating member of the penetrating assembly and then to collapse the collapsible container to deliver the medicinal fluid to the patient. Connected to the second end of the housing is a novel third assembly that includes an operating member that functions to controllably move the shuttle forwardly of the housing.
