    • The invention relates to a test method for a process used for passively obtaining target data of a moving target that radiates wave energy, particularly sound. According to said method, bearing angles are measured as real target data by taking the bearing of the target by means of an on-board bearing system at successive path positions of a vehicle, particularly a watercraft that determines the path positions thereof with the aid of a compound navigation system, and the distance, speed, course, and/or position of the target are determined therefrom as additional real target data. In order to be able to quickly verify the serviceability of said TMA method on line in a sea acceptance test, the positions of the target and the vehicle are measured using a GPS at the moments in time the bearings of the target are taken. The bearing angle and the distances of the target are calculated from the respectively associated positions of the vehicle and the target and are allocated to the path positions that are measured using compound navigation. A reference target path is estimated therefrom as well as from the associated pairs of values of the bearing angle and the distance of the target by means of estimation filters, and reference target data is derived therefrom so as to be directly compared to the real target data.
