摘要： A method of managing quality of service in an IP network is provided. The method comprises identifying, at an egress edge node of the network, that congestion is present in one or more routers within the network. Data flows for termination to remove the congestion are selected. At least one flow termination notification is sent from the egress edge node to an ingress edge node of the network, the at least one flow termination notification identifying the selected data flows. Low priority flows from the selected data flows are terminated at the ingress edge node immediately. High priority flows are terminated only if congestion is still present after a predetermined delay period. The delay may be applied in the ingress edge node or the egress edge node. The invention also provides a method for admitting low priority flows into the network only if the network has resources available for a number of high priority flows above a dynamically determined threshold.

摘要： Aspects of the invention may provide a system and method for network management in a hybrid wired/wireless local area network. A method for network management in a hybrid wired/wireless local area network may include receiving from a first access point and/or a first switch, a first messaging protocol message containing quality of service (QoS) information. Responsive to the first messaging protocol message, at least a minimum QoS level for operation of the first switch, the first access point, a second access point and/or a second switch, may be determined. QoS information corresponding to at least the minimum QoS level may be distributed to the first switch, the first access point, the second access point and the second switch, using a second messaging protocol message. QoS information may be distributed to at least a portion of the hybrid wired/wireless local area network.

摘要： A load balancing method for a wireless local area network (LAN) which has a plurality of access points is provided in the present invention. The load balancing decision is made by a load balancing module according to traffic conditions and bandwidth availability of each traffic priority class based on a corresponding class of service. The load balancing module is a centralized module which the load balancing decision is determined by the centralized module, or is determined through information exchanges among distributed load balancing modules of the access points. The load balancing decision also takes into consideration of VLANs per VLAN tag basis. Each of the VLANs is defined with the corresponding traffic priority class.
