摘要： It is the aim of the present invention to provide a method and a system for reducing to the minimum the network bandwidth allocation for the protected routes of GBW-services. This aims are achieved by a method and a system for minimizing bandwidth allocation for alternative routes within a network, comprising the steps of: a) providing a management system for managing the routes of services within said network; b) providing a plurality of guaranteed bandwidth services, hereafter referred as GBW-services; c) assigning to each GBW-service a traffic class, hereafter referred as TC; d) calculating for each GBW-service belonging to a protected TC an active route and at least one alternative route; the active route being the planned route in case of absence of a respective network failure and the alternative route being the route which guarantees that, in case of a network failure with respect to the active route, said GBW-service is protected elsewhere by protecting the respective network resources; e) providing a first optimized protection mode to be assigned to all the GBW-services belonging to a given protected TC; said first optimized protection mode comprising a first optimization step including the step of reserving bandwidth for each GBW-service only once for each network resource employed by the active and/or the alternative route of each GBW-service.

摘要： A wireless mobile communication (WMC) device may be determine a quality of service (QOS) required to communicate data. The WMC device may utilize a plurality of physical layers available in the WMC device to retain the QOS throughout the data communication. The physical layers may comprise a plurality of wireless technologies and/or a plurality of transmission power levels within each wireless technology. Selection of physical layers that may be utilized may comprise determination of available QOS through the physical layers, available power in the WMC device, and/or power requirement for communicating data via the physical layers. Data encoding may also be utilized to alter size of communicated data while retaining the required QOS. Data encoding may comprise utilizing encoding schemes, data compression, and/or redundancy bits. A set of deadlines may be utilized to enable switching between available physical layers to ensure maintaining and/or achieving required QOS.

摘要： The invention relates to a method for providing resources for adapting the routing process in response to the failure of a network element (L3) in a packet-oriented network. Barring checks that use thresholds (BBB(ri,rj)) are provided to control the volume of traffic in the network. Data packets are barred if their routing would otherwise mean the crossing of a threshold (BBB(ri,rj)). According to the invention, the thresholds (BBB(ri,rj)) are defined by taking into account failure topologies or possible malfunction scenarios, to ensure that a corresponding malfunction does not lead to an overload in the network. Said definition of the thresholds (BBB(ri,rj)) allows resources to be provided or reserved to all intents and purposes for intercepting malfunctions. The advantage of the invention is that quality criteria can be upheld and quality of service features guaranteed, even during malfunctions.

The under-constrained nature of the requests enables requests to be scheduled taking into account factors such as transfer priority, transfer duration, the amount of time it has been since the transfer request was submitted, and many other factors.
