摘要： Die Erfindung betrifft eine Vorrichtung zur Überwachung der Sitzposition eines Fahrzeuginsassen (I) eines mit einem Airbag (4) ausgerüsteten Kraftfahrzeuges, die eine positionsauflösende Sensoreinrichtung (3) aufweist, durch die zumindest die Position des Kopfes und/oder des Oberkörpers des Fahrzeuginsassens (I) erfaßbar ist, und deren Sensorsignal (S) einer Auswerteeinrichtung (4) zuführbar ist, durch die die Position des oder der erfaßten Körperteile bestimmbar ist. Erfindungsgemäß ist vorgesehen, daß in der Auswerteeinrichtung (3) ein räumliches Entfaltungsprofil eines Airbags (A) gespeichert ist, daß durch die Auswerteeinrichtung (3) die aus dem Sensorsignal (S) der Sensoreinrichtung (3) bestimmte räumliche Position dahingehend auswertbar ist, ob sich ein überwachtes Körperteil des Fahrzeuginsassen (I) in einer kritischen Position befindet, und daß beim Feststellen einer kritischen Position durch die Auswerteeinrichtung (3) ein optisches und/oder akustisches Warnsignal erzeugbar ist.

摘要： A vehicle seat belt tension prediction system and method comprises an accelerometer (20) having an output signal responsive to vertical acceleration of the vehicle, a seat weight sensor (30) having an output signal responsive to the force exerted by a mass resting on the seat, and a processor means (50) for calculating seat belt tension. The processor is provided with a plurality of inputs operatively coupled to the accelerometer output and seat weight sensor output. Suitable programming is provided to instruct the processor (50) to calculate the average mass resting on the vehicle seat and predict the force that should be exerted on the seat for a measured level of vertical acceleration assuming zero belt tension. The processor (50) then compares the actual force measured by the seat weight sensor (30) with the predicted force to determine seat belt tension thereby obviating the necessity of complex hardware in physical contact with the seat belt system.

摘要： According to the invention the accident detector (1) of the occupant protection system carries out an internal error control and, in the case of error detection, generates a permanent status signal which is sent to a control device (4). When it receives the status signal the control device (4) blocks the deployment availability and generates an alarm signal. In case of an accident the status signal is queried one more time before deployment of the occupant protection system, i.e. the detector state is verified. When the accident detector (1) does not signal any errors deployment is triggered or, if this is not the case, blocked. This prevents the undesired deployment of the occupant protection system.

摘要： A sensing system and method for automatically deactivating an airbag (46) in a vehicle (10). The sensing system includes a seat weight sensor (52) mounted, for example, in a front passenger seat (16), and an ALR sensor (34) for detecting if an automatic locking retractor (32) is active. Signals from these sensors are received by a seat weight sensor module (50). If the automatic locking retractor (32) is active, then a predetermined weight is subtracted from the weight reading detected by the seat weight sensor (52) to produce a weight value prior to comparing the weight value to a predetermined threshold value. If the threshold value is larger, then the sensor module (50) signals the airbag module (48) to deactivate the airbag (46).

摘要： The invention relates to an evaluation method for a seat occupancy sensor of a vehicle seat in order to classify a person sitting on the vehicle seat or an object lying on the vehicle seat. The seat occupancy sensor has several sensor elements distributed over the surface of the vehicle seat. The method comprises the following steps: a) Individual evaluation of individual sensor elements, whereby a measured value is established for each sensor element, said measured value characterizing the instantaneous switching state of the respective sensor element; b) calculating an instantaneous occupancy profile with the use of established measured values; c) comparing the qualities of the instantaneous occupancy profile with a certain number of quality criteria which are stored in a buffer storage and which pertain to previous occupancy profiles; d) recording the instantaneous occupancy profile in a buffer storage if the quality of the instantaneous occupancy profile happens to be better than or equal to the quality of the previous occupancy profiles, whereby the occupancy profile with the lowest quality is deleted from the buffer storage; e) calculating an averaged occupancy profile with the use of the parameters stored in the buffer storage; f) classifying the seat occupancy with the use of the established occupancy profile.

摘要： A vehicle collision warning system (10) converts collision threat messages from a predictive collision sensor into intuitive sounds which are perceived by the occupant to be directed from the direction of the potential collision. The type and volume of the sounds are dependent upon the estimated likelihood, severity, and commencement time of the collision. The types of sounds are chosen to evoke the proper corrective action by the driver as necessary to avoid the collision or mitigate the effects thereof. Examples of the sounds include a horn, screeching tires, a siren, sounds of various types of vehicles and objects, and voice commands. The sounds are stored monaurally and are converted to directional sounds using known techniques.
