In general, a device equipped with virtualization resources may be configured to load at least one virtualized SIM. Wireless communication resources in the device may be configured to access the at least one virtualized SIM when, for example, initializing a connection to a wireless network. Some embodiments may include more than one virtualized SIM. For example, a plurality of virtualized SIM may be loaded at the same time (e.g., for use in initializing connections to different wireless networks). In a different embodiment, a determination to be made as to which virtualized SIM to load based on, for example, the detection of available wireless networks. 摘要： Techniques are described for updating a host operating system on a server while maintaining virtual machines running on the server. An updated host operating system is copied to the server. The currently active host operating system freezes the virtual machines but leaves them resident in RAM. The allocations and state for each virtual machine is copied to RAM or local storage. The active host operating system is shut down. Instead of issuing a command to reboot the server after it finishes shutting down, the active host operating system transfers execution to a loader. The loader reads the kernel of the updated host operating system into RAM along with an allocation map for the virtual machines and instructions to resume the virtual machines. The loader transfers execution to the updated host operating system entry point, and the updated host operating system loads the states of the virtual machines and resumes them.

摘要： A system and method is provided to dynamically optimize the topography of a compute cluster in real time based on the runtime configuration, specified as metadata, of jobs in a queuing or scheduling environment. The system provisions or terminates multiple types of virtualized resources based on the profile of all applications of the jobs in a current queue based on their aggregate runtime configuration specified as requirements and rank expressions within associated metadata. The system will continually request and terminate compute resources as jobs enter and exit the queue, keeping the cluster as minimal as possible while still being optimized to complete all jobs in the queue, optimized for cost, runtime or other metric. End users can specify the runtime requirements of jobs, thereby preventing the user from having to know about the physical profile of the compute cluster to specifically architect their jobs.
