    • The invention relates to a threaded ring having a single-component body provided with an internal screw thread (14, 16) and consisting of two body parts (10, 12). The first part thereof (10) forms an adjusting ring having an end face (22) which is located on a radial plane, and the second body part thereof (12) forms a security ring which is connected to the first body part (10) by means of an elastically flexible wall part (32) of the body, forming a gap (26) between the two body parts (10, 12) and comprises an actuating device by means of which the geometry of the gap (26) can be adjusted due to the elastic flexibility of the wall element (29) along the longitudinal axis of the body. A bearing surface (46) comprising a predefinable inclination is arranged in the premounting state between parts of the actuating device and parts of the body and the inclination angle (a) in relation to the longitudinal axis of the body is selected in such a manner that in the mounting state, play occurring on the flanks of the screw thread is eliminated, enabling a high degree of efficiency to be obtained based on the force of the actuating device exerted on the inclined bearing surface and the thread flanks which are to be clamped.

    • A hub assembly (A) includes a hub (4) having a flange (10) and a spindle (20) projected from the flange (10), a housing (2) located around the hub spindle (20), and an antifriction bearing (6) between the housing (2) and the spindle (20). The bearing (6) includes an inner race (14) which the spindle (20) initially accommodates in that the spindle (20) has a deformable end over which the inner race (14) is passed. Thereafter, the deformable end is upset into a formed end in a rotary forming procedure that involves forcing the deformable end and a forming tool together while the spindle (20) and tool rotate. The formed end should bear snugly against the inner race (14) and capture it on the spindle (20). In the forming procedure the spindle (20) and forming tool are forced together at a coarse feed, then at a fine feed, and finally at a dwell. The force is monitored throughout, a force or rate of change of force which fail to meet certain established criteria will result in the rejection of the hub assembly (A).
