摘要： The present invention generally provides a surgical clamp for use with a surgical retractor support frame. The surgical clamp has a handle that rotates about a first pivot point from a first position to a second position, and a second pivot point eccentric to the first pivot point. The surgical clamp also has an intermediate link with a first portion that rotates about the second pivot point and a second portion that is rotatably connected to a third pivot point on an output link. The intermediate link is manipulated by rotation of the handle, and the intermediate link further manipulates the output link from a first position to a second position. The output link is operably connected to at least one of the first and second clamps to apply a clamping force on a surgical instrument to lock the surgical instrument in place.

摘要： An improved tissue engagement device such as a suction stabilizer or retractor is provided withone or more suction pods (22) mounted to the distal end of a flexible arm (20). The flexible arm is coupled to abase assembly (24) that includes a fixed portion, which is coupled to a rotatable turret, allowing rotation of the arm relative to the fixed portion of the base assembly. A tensioning mechanism mounted to the turret applies tension to rotationally lock the turret and to lock the arm in its current configuration. If the device is a suction stabilizer, it may carry a spreading/tightening mechanism (21) along with two suction pods (22) and the tensioning mechanism may lock the relative location of the spreading/tightening mechanism relative to the arm. If the device is a suction retractor, the tensioning mechanism may lock a pivotably mounted carrier for a single enlarged suction pod so that the suction pod is held in its desired orientation relative to the arm.

摘要： A surgical instrument support is provided having an articulated arm (28) with first structure (80) on a proximal end (22) of the arm. A lockable target ball (96) is rotatably mounted on a distal end (30) of the articulated arm, and the lockable ball has a hole therein for receiving and supporting a surgical instrument. A mount (36) has second structure (76, 78) that receives and secures the proximal end of the articulated arm. The first structure on the articulated arm cooperates with the second structure on the mount to automatically align the proximal end of the articulated arm with the mount in a repeatable relationship. The mount is adapted to be releasably attached to a fixed structure (22). Thus, after establishing a desired alignment of the lockable ball to a patient, the articulated arm can be removed from the fixed structure and then subsequently remounted therein without losing the desired alignment of the lockable ball with the patient.
