摘要： A closure 9 for the open mouth 2 of a container includes a main body 8 and sealing means which extends around the periphery of the main body. The sealing means has a sealing edge 17 which is adapted to engage a sealing surface formed on the container, and a resiliently flexible web 16 which connects the sealing edge to the main body. The web is movable between a relaxed condition (Figure 1), in which the diameter of the sealing edge 17 is at a maximum, and a sealing condition (Figure 13), in which the diameter of the sealing edge 17 is less than maximum. When the closure operatively closes the opening 2 in the container the web 16 is moved to the sealing condition, and the resilience of the web material serves to press the sealing edge 17 against the sealing surface 1. Preferably the web 16 in its relaxed condition has a frusto-conical form which diverges upwardly and the sealing edge 17 is formed on the upper and outer edge of the web 16.

摘要： A container for carbonated beverages is disclosed. The container includes an interlocking plastic lid and plastic can construction wherein the lid snaps onto the can to provide a sealed container capable of withstanding high internal pressure without leakage. The can includes a neck portion having an inwardly extending ridge and an outwardly flared mouth thereabove. An outwardly and downwardly extending locking flange is unitarily formed at the top of the can mouth. the lid includes a concave top wall which fits into the can mouth and engages the ridge, and a peripheral rim which includes a downwardly opening groove to receive the locking flange. The lid is rigid, and is shaped to compress the locking flange as the lid is pressed onto the can, with the locking flange snapping outwardly over an annular shoulder to secure the lid in place. The flange is held in compression by the groove to insure an intimate surface-to-surface seal around the circumference of the can, the rigid lid providing sufficient hoop strength to maintain the shape of the container, even under high internal pressures.

摘要： A container is provided in the form of a cup-like container body with a round mouth closed by a lid which becomes removably replaceable upon tearing away of a circumferentially extending tear strip which initially surround the mouth rim of the container body as a radially outer, integral part of the lid flange. As the lid is differential pressure-thermoformed, its radially outer region is formed into a generally inverted U-shaped structure which near the juncture of the base and radially outer leg of the inverted U, is provided, within the channel, with an inverted V-shaped notch of substantially diminished wall thickness to provide a line of weakness which preferably extends nearly fully around the circumference of the lid, but for at an angularly short tear-starting site. After the thermoforming step, and preferably in connection with trimming the lid from the surrounding scrap portion of the sheet in which it was formed, a mechanical crimper axially collapses and initially radially outwardly concave annular portion of the radially outer leg of the inverted U, intermediate the vertical extent of that leg, with an upwardly inwardly directed barb or hook which, cooperating with the rim of the cup provides the snap lock feature for securing the lid to the cup. After the initial lidding, it is this barb which prevents removal of the lid until the tear strip is torn away. Other cooperating structures preferably provided on the cup side wall and the radially inner leg of the inverted U provide a surmountable-but-sufficient snap lock which continues to be useful After the tear strip has been removed. By reference, the desired action of the tear strip in removal is enhanced by simple instructions provided on the container, and/or by provision of a crack-initiating layer on the inner surface of the lid.

摘要： The present disclosure, in one embodiment, relates to a packaging assembly for holding liquids, viscous material, or particulate material. The packaging assembly includes a carton having side and bottom walls and an open top. A self-supporting plastic liner fits inside of the carton and is for containing liquids, viscous material, or particulate material. The liner has a side wall, a closed bottom end, and an open top end having an outwardly-projecting rim. The rim has a radially-extending flange portion, and a dependent skirt portion. When the self-supporting plastic liner is inside of the carton, the dependent skirt portion of the rim hangs over the side walls of the carton. A lidding material is removeably affixed to the rim of the plastic liner. A carton lid closes off the open top of the carton.
