摘要： An embodiment of a submersible warming garment comprises a closed fluid loop including a warming conduit disposed in thermal communication with a chamber containing a catalyst and a cooling conduit disposed within a wearable garment. A pump moves the fluid through the warming conduit, where heat is gained, to the cooling conduit, where heat is surrendered to a human wearing the garment, and back to the pump. An actuated valve on a container of fuel and an actuated valve on a container of oxygen are controlled using a controller to provide a combustible mixture into the chamber where the mixture reacts in the presence of a catalytic member to generate heat and combustion by-products. The combustion by-products, including carbon dioxide and water, are one of adsorbed and absorbed by a carbon dioxide scrubber and a reusable water storage medium. A fan moves the by-products into the scrubber and water storage medium.

摘要： A diagnostic imaging device includes a probe that uses both an ultrasound transducer and frequency-domain diffuse optical imaging (FD-DOI) to assist with locating and diagnosing sub-tissue anomalies. According to one aspect, the diagnostic imaging device relates to a clip-on cap that can be utilized with existing ultrasound transducers. The diagnostic imaging device described herein can be utilized for image-guided needle biopsy to regions where prostate tissues are highly suspicious for high-grade cancer, as well as for image guided interventions, such as cryotherapy, photodynamic therapy, and brachytherapy for early-stage or localized prostate cancer.

摘要： The present invention relates to the identification of a microRNA family, designated miR-29a-c, that is a key regulator of fibrosis in cardiac tissue. The inventors show that members of the miR-29 family are down-regulated in the heart tissue in response to stress, and are up-regulated in heart tissue of mice that are resistant to both stress and fibrosis. Also provided are methods of modulating expression and activity of the miR-29 family of miRNAs as a treatment for fibrotic disease, including cardiac hypertrophy, skeletal muscle fibrosis other fibrosis related diseases and collagen loss-related disease.

摘要： A magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) system (500), the system includes at least one controller (510) which performs a modified rotated slab excitation (mROSE) sequence for volume selection to exclude portions of a subject under exam which are within the scanning volume and outside of a field-of-view (FOV) so as to reduce foldover artifacts which originate from the excluded portions of the subject under exam, where the mROSE sequence performs volume excitation based upon either optimized symmetrical, minimum-phase, or stretched minimum-phase radio-frequency (RF) pulses in a sagittal plane and encodes the scanning volume in a coronal plane. The controller also performs a chemical-shift sequence including a modified DIXON (mDIXON) sequence for substantially uniform fat/water separation within a FOV which lies within the scanning volume; and/or acquires echo information for reconstructing at least a part of an image.
