    • A device for cutting a paper web (P) in the transverse direction has a first continuously driven conveyor (1) for moving the paper web through the device and storing the paper web therein (buffer) during cutting in the form of a loop (20), a stationary cutting device (5), a clamping device (4) for temporarily retaining the paper web, and a second conveyor (6) for moving the paper web further after it is stored. The second conveyor (6) comprises a continuously driven transport roller (6a) and several pressure rollers (6b) that can be intermittently pressed by a lifting device (9) onto the transport roller (6a), the paper web (P) being intercalated between the transport roller and the pressure rollers. The clamping device (4) and the lifting device (9) can be driven in step with the cutting device (5), so that the paper web is retained by the clamping device (4) and the pressure rollers (6b) are lifted from the transport roller (6a) while the paper web is cut. The second conveyor (6) is arranged between the clamping device (4) and the cutting device (5). Its transport roller (6a) has a surface layer (8) with the highest possible coefficient of friction with the paper web (P). The lifting device (9) is designed or can be controlled in such a way that the pressure rollers (6b) are lifted from the transport roller (6a) shortly before the paper web is stretched when the loop (20) is undone.

    • There is disclosed a system (11) for vacuum-refeeding sheets in printing and die cutting machines, comprising a plurality of boxes with fans, located above a conveying line composed of: sheet-dragging knurled rollers (39,41,43,45); a covering plate (49) for the initial section, with slits for the knurled rollers and rows of small holes (51) to make air pass; a central conveying line (53) and at least two side lines (55,57), composed of a plurality of idle guide rollers, single (55) or in groups of three (59,61,63), and of small, longitudinal sheet-guiding plates (65) between idle rollers; and timing belts (25) between idle roller lines (53,55,57) including on the external surface thereof small sheet-dragging blocks (67), with such pitch and speed as to adjust the phase of the outgoing sheets to the position of die cutting cylinder (27) downstream without interference with the rear side of the sheets.

    • An apparatus (10) for diverting and delivering sheets (s) in which the sheets (s) are positively controlled throughout the entire operation. Initially, a continuous web of paper (11) passes between opposing cylinders (17,19) comprising a rotary cutter. The lead edge of the web (11) is then engaged by a pair of opposed nip rollers (21,23). Once held by these nip rollers (21,23), the rotary knife (19) cuts a separate sheet (s) from the front of the continuous web (11). The separate sheet (s) then passes between and is accelerated by the nip rollers (21,23) whereupon a dual set of diverting cams (39,41,43,45,47,49), in combination with a pair of conveyors (51,53), directs the sheet (s) to one of two delivery systems (50,52). The next subsequent sheet (s) is directed to the other delivery system (50,52) so that each successive sheet (s) is alternately diverted between the two delivery systems (50,52). Upon exiting either delivery system (50,52), the sheet (s) is subjected to a snubbing means (123) which decelerates the sheet (s) and further allows the next subsequent sheet (s) to overlap the previous sheet (s) before being similarly decelerated. The shingled sheets (s) are then transmitted by conveyor (119,121) to a subsequent processing operation.
