    • A saw blade clamping arrangement (500) for a power tool (10) includes a clamp support (502), a biasing member (538) and an actuation member. The clamp support (502) is interconnected with the drive shaft (30) for reciprocating motion with the drive shaft (30) relative to a housing of the power tool (10). The clamp support (502) is configured to selectively receive a saw blade (38) of the power tool (10) in various orientations. A release lever (532) is carried by the housing and is manually rotated to move a control member (504) between a first position in which the saw blade (38) is coupled to the drive shaft (30) and a second position in which the saw blade (38) may be displaced from the drive shaft (30). In at least one of the orientations, the saw blade (38) is positioned offset from the drive shaft (30) and proximate one of the side walls of the tool housing to allow for flush cutting of a work piece.

    • A tool change apparatus for a machining center and the like comprises a spindle head (2) slidably mounted on a column (1), and a spindle (7) rotatably mounted in the spindle head (2). The spindle has at the lower end thereof a tapered tool reception bore (15) in which a tool (16) is releasably held. When a draw bar (17) is shifted upwards, resilient clamper arms (24) are forced to enter a reduced bore (14a) to be contracted thereby so that a head (16a) of the tool is clamped. When the draw bar is shifted downwards, engageable end portions (24a) are moved into an enlarged recess-like portion (14d) whereby the clamper arms (24) are allowed to expand outwards to release the head (16a) of the tool. Even when the head is released, a stop pin (33) urged by a spring (34) continues to engage the head of the tool whereby the tool is still held by the spindle.
      Tools are held by a series of magazine pots (36). Each pot is indexed to a tool change station (B). A tool change shaft (60) has two oppositely extending pairs of tool change (68) which function to transfer tools between an indexed tool pot and the spindle.
