    • An electric-powered cutting machine includes; an electric motor, a housing (2) for the electric motor; a plunger (1) driven by the electricmotor to reciprocate; and a blade holding mechanism. The blade holding mechanism holds a blade (7) at a tip end portion of the plunger. The blade holding mechanism includes: a blade receiving face (11) including a groove (11a), a swinging member (13) and a pressing member. The groove (11a) is shaped substantially the same as an attachment portion (7a) of the blade. The swinging member has one (13a) and other ends (13b) and pivoted at a swing fulcrum (12). The one end has a blade pressing portion (13c) capable of being disposed to oppose to the groove. The other end (13b) elongates to separate from the plunger (1). The pressing member (14) presses the one end toward the groove.

    • A mixer for liquids and liquid suspensions has a motor drive and housing which is portable and can be carried from tank to tank and attached to the tank where mixing is carried out. The housing depends from the yoke and contains a quill (48) which is driven by the motor drive. A latch (84) is pivotly mounted on the outside of the quill and has a tab (92) which extends into the quill. The tab latches on to a rim of the mixer shaft when the shaft is inserted into the quill. The latch is held by a spring (97) suitably provided by a expansible lock ring so as to enable the latch to pivot as a lever about a fulcrum. The shaft is locked in the quill by a manually actuable connector (120) (suitably a set screw) which is disposed in alignment with the latch in order to align the quill with an opening for a tool which is manually actuable to lock the shaft in place with the set screw. An indicator surface (96) is provided on the latch facing an indicator (100) which is mounted in the housing. The indicator is preferably flexurally mounted in an opening in the housing so as to enable it to be used as a button to pivot the latch in order to release the mixer shaft.
