摘要： An electric arc welding system for creating a first AC welding arc (AC1) with a first current waveform (420) between a first electrode and a workpiece by a first power supply and a second AC welding arc (AC2) with a second current waveform (430) between a second electrode and a workpiece by a second power supply as the first and second electrodes are moved in unison along a welding path, where the first and second power supply each comprising a high speed switching inverter creating its waveform by a number of current pulses occurring at a frequency of at least 18 kHz with the magnitude of each current pulse controlled by a wave shaper and the polarity of the waveforms is controlled by a signal. The first AC waveform has a positive portion substantially different in energy than its negative portion and/or has either a different shape and/or a synthesized sinusoidal portion.

The measuring device (212, 212A) also includes a camera (334) for measuring the gap size. The measuring device (212, 212A) measures the size of the gap by taking gap measurements at a plurality of predetermined locations about the substrate (28) and averages these measurements.

摘要： The invention relates to a process for the production of a welded joint for at least three components of a multiple butt-joint. In order to create the welded joint in the multiple butt-joint by welding from one side only, and to allow components to be fitted very securely to the completely covered face, the multiple butt-joint is created in such a way that at least a first and second of these components which can be welded together are positioned with a gap along their common seam; both the said components are provided with a recess in the region of the seam, said recess being bounded by both components in the direction of shrinkage at opposing surfaces; the abutting end of the third component is inserted into the recess where it fits positively; and once this jointing process is completed, the first and second components are joined by a weld seam. It is proposed that the process should be used in the production of a transport and storage container for spent nuclear fuel holders.

摘要： A machine for continuously producing metal tubing or metal sheathing about a cable (97) from flat metal strip (10) is designed to produce a defect-free seam weld during stop and restart operations. The welder (26), weld closing rolls (22) and seam guide (30) are attached to a base plate (24) slidably mounted on a supporting structure (16). The base plate is slowly displaced between an initial start up position and a final operating position which slightly downstream of the start up position. The base plate is returned upstream to the start up position when the machine is stopped for maintainance or to add a new supply of metal strip. Therefore, when the machine is restarted and advanced to the operating position, a continuous defect free weld is obtained.

摘要： Provided is a tack welding method that, in welding of a large-diameter welded steel pipe or tube, enables an increase in welding speed while preventing humped beads, burn through, and incomplete fusion. In the tack welding method, tack welding is performed continuously on edges (1a) of an open pipe or tube (1) in a production process for a large-diameter welded steel pipe or tube. The tack welding is performed by gas metal arc welding in which a welding current of 1000 A or greater is supplied to a solid welding wire (3) of 4.8 mm or greater in diameter that is attached to contact tip (2), while maintaining a distance of 25 mm or greater between an outer surface of the edges (1a) and a lower end of the contact tip (2).
