摘要： The invention provides a process for the preparation of an alkylene glycol from an alkylene oxide. Alkylene oxide reacts with carbon dioxide in the presence of a carboxylation catalyst to provide alkylene carbonate; alkylene carbonate reacts with water in the presence of a hydrolysis catalyst to provide alkylene glycol. An initial charge of the carboxylation catalyst and an initial charge of the hydrolysis catalyst are added, the degradation and activity of the hydrolysis catalyst are monitored, and when the activity of the hydrolysis catalyst has fallen below a minimum level, an additional charge of the hydrolysis catalyst is added.

摘要： An alkanediol and a dialkyl carbonate are prepared in a process comprising: (a) reacting an alkylene carbonate and an alkanol feedstock into a reaction zone under transesterification conditions to obtain a product mixture of dialkyl carbonate, unconverted alkanol, the alkanediol, and unconverted alkylene carbonate; (b) separating dialkyl carbonate and unconverted alkanol from the product mixture to obtain a bottom product stream containing alkanediol and unconverted alkylene carbonate; (c) recovering the dialkyl carbonate; and (d) separating alkanediol from the bottom product stream to leave a recycle stream comprising unconverted alkylene carbonate, wherein the recycle stream comprising unconverted alkylene carbonate is split in at least two portions, and at least one portion is recycled to the reaction zone and another portion is subjected to hydrolysis to yield alkanediol and carbon dioxide.

摘要： The invention pertains to a process for the preparation of alkanediol comprising the steps: (i) contacting alkylene oxide with carbon dioxide in the presence of a carbonation catalyst to obtain a reaction mixture containing alkylene carbonate at a reaction temperature of from 100 to 200 °C; (ii) contacting the reaction mixture obtained in step (i) with R-OH, in which R is hydrogen or an alkyl group in the presence of a catalyst to obtain a reaction mixture containing alkanediol and R2CO3; (iii) subjecting the mixture containing alkanediol and R2CO3 to a separation step to yield a crude alkanediol stream, which is subjected to distillation to yield a purified stream of alkanediol as the bottom stream; (iv) subjecting the purified stream of alkanediol obtained in step (iii) to further distillation to obtain a bottom stream containing a mixture of alkanediol, heavy components, and optionally carbonation catalyst, and a top stream containing high purity alkanediol; wherein at least part of the reaction mixture obtained in step (i) is used for heat exchange with at least part of the crude alkanediol stream and/or with at least part of the purified alkanediol stream.

This process enables dialkyl carbonates and high-purity diols to be prepared with a high productivity even when aliphatic monohydric alcohols containing dialkyl carbonates is used as the starting material.

摘要： Disclosed is a method for continuously producing a dialkyl carbonate and a diol, comprising: (1) feeding a cyclic carbonate and an aliphatic monohydric alcohol to a continuous multi-stage distillation column, and effecting a transesterification in the presence of a catalyst in the multi-stage distillation column and/or at least one transesterification reactor which communicates fluid-tightly with the distillation column, while continuously withdrawing a low boiling point gaseous mixture containing the produced dialkyl carbonate from a upper portion of the distillation column and a high boiling point liquid mixture from a lower portion of the distillation column; and (2) continuously feeding water and the high boiling point mixture to a hydrolysis reactor, to thereby effect a continuous hydrolysis of the unreacted cyclic carbonate contained therein and produce a diol and carbon dioxide. By the method of the present invention, it becomes possible to produce a dialkyl carbonate and a high purity diol, with high productivity, even when the feedstock aliphatic monohydric alcohol contains a concomitant dialkyl carbonate.
