摘要： This invention relates to a metal body having at least one vapor-deposited treatment layer overlying and adhered to at least one side of the metal body, and a layer of adhesion-promoting material overlying and adhered to at least one treatment layer, provided that when two treatment layers are deposited on one side of the body and the first layer is vapor-deposited zinc, the second layer is not vapor-deposited silica or alumina, said adhesion-promoting material being suitable for enhancing adhesion between said body and another substrate. The invention also relates to laminates comprising metal foils and at least one vapor-deposited treatment layer overlying and adhered to at least one side of the metal foil; a layer of adhesion-promoting material overlying and adhered to at least one vapor-deposited treatment layer; and a layer of an electrically non-conductive material overlying and adhered to the adhesion-promoting layer.

摘要： The surgical instrument system disclosed is particularly useful for endoscopic procedures. In the preferred embodiment, a hemostatic clip applicator can be directly connected to a trigger assembly or indirectly connected to the trigger assembly through the use of an extension. The connection between the extension and the clip applicator is secured to prevent accidental release during the procedure. The applicator receives a longitudinal input and translates the input into relative component motion through the use of gearing to apply the clips. The handle stem assembly in an alternative embodiment has a drive rod configuration that connects to a closure member so as not only to provide the distal biasing force, but also to provide, if needed, a proximal pulling force to assist in release of the jaw if it becomes necessary.

摘要： A semiconductor device for detecting radiation includes a plurality of quantum well layers, each of which has bound ground and excited states, interleaved with a plurality of superlattice barrier layers, each of which has a miniband of energy states. By selection of the thicknesses and compositions of the layers, the excited states of the quantum wells have energies that are approximately equal to energies of states in the minibands. Thus, the excited states and minibands form a band of energy states that is substantially continuous across the pluralities of layers. Carriers are excited from the quantum wells' ground states to the excited states by photon absorption and are swept into and through the minibands by an externally applied electric field. The carriers are collected as photocurrent. The excited states may be selectively positioned in the minibands to tailor the properties of the devices, which can have both n-type and p-type dopants. Devices that respond to more than one wavelength band are also disclosed.
