    • A torque limiter which can be easily and quickly assembled and adjusted. A torque limiter has a tube member (1) and a shaft member (2). The shaft member (2) has a circumferentially extending section (52) extending around the complete circumference of the outer surface of the tube member (1). The circumferentially extending section (52) has a circumferentially extending groove and a screw hole open to the outside radially of the circumferentially extending section (52) and to the circumferentially extending groove. In use, when the tube member (1) rotates relative to the shaft member (2), an outer end radially of a tube (27) is cut by a cap (70) threaded to the screw hole. When the tube member (1) is rotated relative to the shaft member (2) with the cap (70) not threaded to the screw hole and with the tube (27) not open to the outside, the end of the tube (27) circumferentially moves in the circumferentially extending groove with a spacing from the groove.

    • A breakaway support post (130) is provided for a highway guardrail system (120) to enhance the safety of a vehicle impacting with either the rail face of the associated guardrail or one end of the guardrail facing oncoming traffic. For some applications, the breakaway support post (130) may be formed from a steel I-beam with one or more elongated slots formed intermediate the ends of the steel I-beam. The slots are preferably formed in the flanges of the I-beam which are in turn aligned generally parallel with the associated guardrail. For other applications, a breakaway support post may have an upper (142) and a lower (144) portion with a rotatable coupling (140) assembly disposed therebetween. A shear pin (156) or other releasing mechanism is preferably provided to maintain the upper and lower portions generally aligned with each other prior to the impact of a vehicle with one end of the associated guardrail.

    • The present invention is directed to pressure relief devices and to corresponding pressure relief assemblies that have improved vacuum resistance, improved fragmentation resistance, and/or improved burst control while maintaining low mass. The pressure relief device includes a substantially flat flange section and a domed section. The domed section may include a transitional line that defines a change in the shape of the domed section. The pressure relief device may also include a bracket for securing or aligning a domed section to a flange section. The pressure relief device may further include a stress distribution feature that is disposed transversely to a line of weakness in the domed section. The pressure relief assembly may include a fastener having a wire that is configured to break and release the pressure relief device when subject to a predetermined tensile load.
