摘要： A new catheter stick protector is described having a metal flap clip (15) which snaps down into place to prevent return of the needle (4) through the protector device once withdrawn. The device is small and received over the needle (4) to provide an interface between the needle hub (7) and the hub (3) of a catheter like product. A sleeve (9) of hydrophobic or fluid impermeable material is provided and attached at one end to the needle hub (7) and at a second end to the tip protector. The length of the material is selected to hold the tip protector in a position just extending beyond the tip (14) of the needle (4) of a catheter inserter.

摘要： A safety needle assembly of an infusion set for infusing fluids into a subcutaneously implanted access port is disclosed. The needle assembly is configured to prevent fluid/vapor escape therefrom so as to reduce or prevent fluid exposure to a clinician using the needle assembly. In one embodiment, the needle assembly comprises a handle portion including a needle extending therefrom, the needle defining a lumen for passage of a fluid therethrough. The needle assembly also includes a safety assembly defining a needle hole through which the needle initially extends. The safety assembly is selectively and axially slidable along the needle in order to shield a distal tip of the needle and prevent user contact therewith. A fluid isolation component is included in the safety assembly for isolating fluid escape from the needle to prevent exposure to a clinician.

摘要： The needle (11;74;92) of a syringe, wire guide, biopsy needle, Huber needle and the like is drawn into a protective cap (12;76;94) and sheath (22) arrangement after use for disposal purposes. The cap (12;76;94) is tethered to a housing (13;71;93) in which the needle (11;74;92) is mounted by the sheath (22). The sheath (22) is made of a film material that has a high tensile strength and a low percent of elongation, such as polyester. The sheath(22) is initially mounted about the needle (11;74;92) in a collapsed accordion-like condition between the cap (12;76;94) and housing (13;71;93). When the cap(12;76;94) is moved along the needle(11;74;92), the sheath (22) is played out over the needle (11;74;92). The cap(12;76;94) houses a spring clip(26;86;110) to snap over the bore (33;88;95) through which the needle (11;74;92) is retracted to prevent re-emergence of the needle (11;74;92). The flexible nature of the sheath (22) allows the sheath (22) to pass about the two legs of the Huber needle (92).
