    • There is provided an electromagnetic contactor with which it is possible to suppress electromagnetic repulsion forces which cause a movable contact to open when current is conducted without any effect of magnetic fields of external connection conductors. The electromagnetic contactor includes a contact mechanism (CM) including a pair of fixed contacts (2), interposed in a current conduction path, which have their respective fixed contact portions (2a), (2b) and a movable contact 3 having a pair of movable contact portions (3b), (3c) which are able to come into and out of contact with the pair of fixed contact portions, wherein at least one of the pair of fixed contacts or movable contact is formed in a shape such as to form magnetic fields which generate Lorentz forces opposing electromagnetic repulsion forces generated in an opening direction between the fixed contact portions and movable contact portions when current is conducted.
