    • An irrigation system is disclosed, for use e.g. for rectal irrigation, and being suitable for self-administration of an irrigation liquid. The system comprises a reservoir for an irrigating liquid, such as water, a probe/catheter for arrangement in a user and a control unit for controlling the transfer of said irrigation liquid. Further, tubing is provided for establishing fluid communication between the reservoir, control unit and probe. The reservoir is arranged to exert a mechanical pressure on the irrigation liquid therein, thereby maintaining the irrigation liquid under pressure, and wherein the control unit comprises a control valve for releasing irrigation liquid from the reservoir for discharge through said probe.
