    • A device for confirming the position of a branch pipe opening allows a branch pipe opening to be easily located so that a main pipe liner bag can be exactly cut along the branch pipe opening. The device for confirming the position of a branch pipe opening is composed of a holding member having a shape such that the holding member is in close contact with an inner wall of a main pipe when the device is placed in position, and a protrusion formed in a portion of the holding member, wherein the protrusion has an opening substantially conformal to a branch pipe opening, and extends beyond an inner surface or beyond the inner surface and an outer surface of the holding member. The device for confirming the position of a branch pipe opening is introduced into a main pipe, and arranged to position the protrusion of the device at a branch pipe opening. The holding member is closely contacted onto an inner wall of the main pipe to insert the protrusion into the branch pipe opening so that the device is secured within the main pipe. Subsequently, the main pipe is lined using a main pipe liner bag which is composed of a tubular resin absorbent material and an unhardened liquid hardenable resin impregnated in the tubular resin absorbent material. Then, the main pipe liner bag is cut along a mark substantially conformal to the branch pipe opening. The mark is protrusively formed on the main pipe liner bag due to the protrusion of the device for confirming the position of a branch pipe opening.

    • A method for lining a manhole (2), which comprises (a) inserting into the manhole a tubular liner (7) soaked with a curable liquid resin; (b) everting an inflatable plastic bag (9) into the tubular liner by charging water in it; (c) closing the open end of the everted bag (9) to form a closed space (S) inside the bag; (d) supplying compressed air to the closed space to cause the plastic bag (9) to inflate and press the liner (7) against the manhole (2); and (e) curing the liquid resin to harden the liner (7).     • A branch pipe lining method of the invention utilizes a branch pipe liner bag (4) impregnated with a hardenable resin and having a flange (4a) at one end thereof, wherein the flange is folded out and mounted to a fluid pressure sealing nozzle (7); the branch pipe liner bag is everted and inserted into a branch pipe (2); an upper end of the branch pipe liner bag is pulled up by a rope (24) or the like with the flange (4a) thereof being secured on the inner wall of the main pipe (1); the fluid pressure sealing nozzle (7) is removed from the branch pipe liner bag; a sealing pressure bag (16) introduced into the main pipe (1) is expanded to seal a lower opening of the branch pipe liner bag (4) with the sealing pressure bag; the upper end of the branch pipe liner bag is closed, and the branch pipe liner bag is pressed against the inner wall of the branch pipe with a fluid pressure; and the hardenable resin impregnated in the branch pipe liner bag is hardened while the branch pipe liner bag is continuously being pressed against the inner wall of the branch pipe. After the lining is completed, the sealing pressure bag (16) can be easily removed from the branch pipe liner bag (4) after it has been hardened, so that any fragment of the sealing pressure bag will not remain on the inner wall of the branch pipe (2), with the result that the inner wall surface of the branch pipe can be maintained in a favourable condition.

    • A branch pipe lining method which can achieve an air-tight connection between a pressure bag (7) and a branch pipe liner bag (1) in a simple structure without employing a conventional sealed tube. An open end of the pressure bag (7) is attached to a set nozzle (10) coupled to a work robot (6) which is movably installed in a main pipe (20). A branch pipe liner bag (1), impregnated with a thermosetting resin, is placed inside the pressure bag (7), the liner bag having a flange (5) which is removably attached to the set nozzle (10) by fitting a protrusion (5a) formed on a surface of the flange into a concave groove (10c) formed in the set nozzle. With the flange (5) being closely contacted to the inner wall of the main pipe (20) around a branch pipe opening (21a), compressed air is supplied into the pressure bag (7) to evert and insert the branch pipe liner bag (1) into a branch pipe (21). While the branch pipe liner bag is pressed against the inner wall of the branch pipe, the thermosetting resin impregnated in the branch pipe liner bag is cured, whereby the inner wall of the branch pipe is lined with the cured thermosetting resin, i.e. the branch pipe is repaired. Upon completing the lining operation, the protrusion (5a) is disengaged from the concave groove (10c), the work robot (6) removed and the pressure bag (7) removed from the branch pipe liner bag (1).

    • A method for everting a tubular liner bag (1) into a pipe (10) to line the pipe with the tubular liner bag, comprising the steps of: (a) attaching an air hose end to a suitable position of the outer surface (before everting) of the liner bag; (b) everting the tubular liner bag by means of water pressure into a vertical entrance to the pipe; (c) turning the head of the tubular liner bag toward a pipe entrance, when the eversion head hits upon the inner wall of the pipe; (d) everting the tubular liner bag substantially deep into the pipe; (e) stopping the eversion; (f) deforming the everted tubular liner bag such that it is roughly shaped like a letter J with the head portion of the tubular liner bag corresponding to the toe of the J-letter, and such that when compressed air of a pressure not substantially greater than the pressure required to force the tubular liner bag to evert exists in the toe section of the J-letter shaped tubular liner bag, the air does not get to the long-leg section of the J-letter shaped bag from the toe section; and (g) operating an air compressor (7) to supply compressed air into the head portion of the tubular liner bag by way of the air hose (8) to thereby increase the internal pressure in the head portion of the tubular liner to values substantially greater than that required to force the tubular liner bag to evert.
