    • The invention relates to an apparatus for providing a metal pipe or tube (1a) with plastics, especially PTFE, lining (1b) with terminal collars that form tight seals, to the use of said apparatus for the manufacture of a metal pipe or tube (1a) with plastics lining (1b) and to a metal pipe or tube obtainable by said manufacture, as well as to a heating matrix (3) and to a heating plate (2) carrying such heating matrix (3), and to a hydraulic spreading device (64,104) for transiently clamping a plastics lining (1b) inside a metal pipe or tube (1a). Said apparatus comprises a displaceable work bench unit (1) carrying a vice for fixing a pipe or tube (1a) to be lined; a heating plate (2) equipped with one or more heating matrices (3) for shaping PTFE collars; a hydraulic system for displacing the work bench unit (1) carrying the vice for fixing the pipe or tube (1a) to be lined; a hydraulic system for wedging in and loosening of a spreading device (64,104) used to fix the lining (1b) in the pipe or tube (1a) during the shaping of the collar; and a cooling plate (4a) with one or more cooling matrices (4).

    • A method of re-lining a main pipeline (10) having at least one transversely extending pipe (11) connected thereto via a generally annular connection region (12), said method comprising applying an internal lining (10a) to the inner wall of a length of said main pipeline (10) and which overlies the entrance to said transversely extending pipe (11) and also said connection region (12), and forming a hole in the lining (10a) so as to expose said entrance; introducing a re-lining assembly (14, 15) into said pipe (11) from an end thereof remote from said entrance, said assembly comprising a tubular web (14) of resin-permeated material within an elastomeric membrane (15) which is everted by application of fluid pressure to the assembly so as to introduce the assembly into the pipe and so that the now externally located tubular web (14) projects into the main pipeline (10); applying further fluid pressure to the assembly (14, 15) so that the membrane (15) causes the projecting end of the tubular web (14) to flare or deform outwardly and thereby overlie the connection region (12); and inflating a packer (16) which is located in the main pipeline (10) adjacent to the transversely extending pipe (11) to engage with said flared projecting end (13) of the tubular web (14) and to press said end (13) into engagement with the portion of the wall of the main pipeline adjacent to said connection region (12), whereby the resin impregnated in the web (14) is caused or allowed to cure and thereby to bond the web to the lining (10a) of the main pipeline (10).

    • A branch pipe lining method of the invention utilizes a branch pipe liner bag (4) impregnated with a hardenable resin and having a flange (4a) at one end thereof, wherein the flange is folded out and mounted to a fluid pressure sealing nozzle (7); the branch pipe liner bag is everted and inserted into a branch pipe (2); an upper end of the branch pipe liner bag is pulled up by a rope (24) or the like with the flange (4a) thereof being secured on the inner wall of the main pipe (1); the fluid pressure sealing nozzle (7) is removed from the branch pipe liner bag; a sealing pressure bag (16) introduced into the main pipe (1) is expanded to seal a lower opening of the branch pipe liner bag (4) with the sealing pressure bag; the upper end of the branch pipe liner bag is closed, and the branch pipe liner bag is pressed against the inner wall of the branch pipe with a fluid pressure; and the hardenable resin impregnated in the branch pipe liner bag is hardened while the branch pipe liner bag is continuously being pressed against the inner wall of the branch pipe. After the lining is completed, the sealing pressure bag (16) can be easily removed from the branch pipe liner bag (4) after it has been hardened, so that any fragment of the sealing pressure bag will not remain on the inner wall of the branch pipe (2), with the result that the inner wall surface of the branch pipe can be maintained in a favourable condition.

    • A branch pipe lining method which can achieve an air-tight connection between a pressure bag (7) and a branch pipe liner bag (1) in a simple structure without employing a conventional sealed tube. An open end of the pressure bag (7) is attached to a set nozzle (10) coupled to a work robot (6) which is movably installed in a main pipe (20). A branch pipe liner bag (1), impregnated with a thermosetting resin, is placed inside the pressure bag (7), the liner bag having a flange (5) which is removably attached to the set nozzle (10) by fitting a protrusion (5a) formed on a surface of the flange into a concave groove (10c) formed in the set nozzle. With the flange (5) being closely contacted to the inner wall of the main pipe (20) around a branch pipe opening (21a), compressed air is supplied into the pressure bag (7) to evert and insert the branch pipe liner bag (1) into a branch pipe (21). While the branch pipe liner bag is pressed against the inner wall of the branch pipe, the thermosetting resin impregnated in the branch pipe liner bag is cured, whereby the inner wall of the branch pipe is lined with the cured thermosetting resin, i.e. the branch pipe is repaired. Upon completing the lining operation, the protrusion (5a) is disengaged from the concave groove (10c), the work robot (6) removed and the pressure bag (7) removed from the branch pipe liner bag (1).

    • A method is proposed for lining a branch pipe (2) from a main pipe (1), wherein a particular sealing mechanism is adopted in attaching the collar (4A) of a liner bag (4) onto the flange (7b) of a fluid pressure sealing nozzle (7). Stopper tacks (18) are embedded in the collar (4A) at appropriate locations, each of the stopper tacks having its bottom end exposed from the back face of the collar and connected with a string (19). The back face of the collar (4A) of the branch pipe liner bag (4) is faced with the upper face of the flange (7b) of the fluid pressure sealing nozzle (7), which further comprises a hollow cylindrical part (7a), the flange (7b) extending perpendicularly from the side of the cylindrical part (7a), and at least one endless sealant (16, 17) is laid on the upper face of the flange (7b). A string puller (11, 12, 13) provided in the flange (7b), and the strings (19) are engaged with the string puller, and the string puller (11, 12, 13) pulls the strings (19) so that the collar (4A) and the flange (7b) are moved toward each other until sufficient sealing effect is obtained.
