摘要： Adhesive antimicrobial dental compositions and methods for forming and using compositions are disclosed. The compositions (10) are primarily useful as pulp caps and dentin liners. 摘要： Composition and methods which include a dental bleaching agent and potassium nitrate for enhanced whitening and reduced tooth sensitivity. The potassium nitrate both enhances the whiteness of teeth beyond the whitening effect of the dental agent and reduces or eliminates tooth sensitivity that would otherwise be caused by the bleaching agent. For prolonged treatment of teeth, lower quantities of potassium nitrate (e.g., 0.5 %) have actually been found to work better than larger quantities (e.g., 3 %). The dental compositions (40) may be applied directly to the person's teeth, or they may be loaded into a comfortable fitting, flexible, thin-walled dental tray (50) and placed over the person's teeth. In that case, the dental compositions (40) will include a tackifying agent, such as carboxypolymethylene, which assists the composition in retaining the dental tray (50) over the person's teeth as a result of the adhesive properties of the dental composition (40) rather than due to mechanical interlocking of the tray (50) over the person's teeth. The dental compositions may further include anticariogenic and antimicrobial agents.

A dental wedge (630a) can then be inserted into the embrasure against the frictional engagement surface to hold the dental matrix band (200) stationary with respect to the tooth (700b). The frictional engagement surface (206) is sufficiently rough that dental wedges (630a) are much less likely to slip out of an embrasure once positioned against the frictional engagement surface (206), thereby ensuring that a matrix band (200) will be securely held in place by a dental wedge (630a) to enable the practioner to confidently proceed with the restoration. The matrix bands may be formed from opaque materials such as stainless steel or from materials which are translucent.

摘要： A hemostatic dental composition for controlling oral bleeding or providing gingival tissue fluid control, which includes a hemostatic agent, a chemical agent for reducing the acidic activity of the hemostatic agent, and an aqueous base. The composition can be used to stop bleeding or control gingival tissue fluid flow without opening up the dentinal tubules in the dentin of a tooth that has been cut during dental restorative and reconstructive procedures. The chemical agent is preferably an inorganic filler or high molecular weight polyol that reduces the acidic or other chemical activity of the hemostatic agent. This allows the smear layer plugs in the dentinal tubules to remain substantially intact to occlude passage of potentially harmful contaminants into the tubules and hence into the dental pulp.

摘要： Methods and apparatus are provided for mixing and dispensing multi-component compositions. The preferred embodiment utilizes a syringe barrel (22) as a mixing chamber and for dispensing of the mixed components.
