    • An oscillation suppression device (11) comprises a base body (12) to be secured to a ship body (10a) a gimbals (13) secured to the base body (12), a damper (14), a flywheel (15) provided in the gimbals (13), and a motor (16) for rotating the flywheel (15), etc. The gimbals (13) is supported by bearings (30, 31) built into a pair of side walls (21, 22) of the base body (12), respectively, such that it can rotate around a first axis (X1). The flywheel (15) can rotate around a second axis (X2). A rotor member (40) of the motor (16) is attached to the flywheel (15), and a stator member (41) is attached to the gimbals (13). The rotor member (40) and stator member (41) are located inside the locus-of-rotation of the gimbals (13). The base body (12) includes a cover portion (23) covering the outer surface of the gimbals (13).

    • Embodiments of a rotor assembly (70, 122, 142, 174) are provided for deployment within a momentum control device (20, 170) including a rotor assembly housing (22, 96, 130, 150, 176). In one embodiment, the rotor assembly includes a rotor shaft (34, 76, 91, 124, 144, 178) rotatably mounted within the rotor assembly housing, a floating bearing cartridge (56, 74, 93, 105, 126, 146) disposed around a first end portion of the rotor shaft, and a radially-compliant damping member (72, 95, 100, 120, 140) mechanically coupled between the floating bearing cartridge and the rotor assembly housing, as taken along an emitted disturbance path. The radially-compliant damping member reduces the transmission of vibratory forces from the floating bearing cartridge to the rotor assembly housing to reduce emitted disturbances during operation of the momentum control device.
