    • The present invention provides a fuse structure. The fuse structure comprises a substrate, a plurality of conductive layers, a dielectric layer and a plurality of conductive plugs. The fuse structure includes a plurality of fuse units, with increased the pitch between the fuse units. This structure prevents the fuse structure from failing when both misalignment of the laser beam or thermal scattering of the laser beam damage the second layer of the fuse structure in the laser blow process, which raises reliability and yield.

    • A safety device for preventing a trouble caused by an abnormal overheating of an electric circuit is provided, which includes: a circuit board; a first circuit pattern; a second circuit pattern; a first electrode connected to the first circuit pattern; a second electrode connected to the second circuit pattern, while enclosing the first electrode without a break, the second electrode being standoff-insulated from the first electrode; and a solder fuse portion made of a solder and formed over and inside the second electrode for bridging the first and second electrodes, wherein the solder fuse portion in a melted state separates onto the first and second electrodes by surface tension of the solder, whereby a circuit between the first and second circuit patterns is broken. Thus, a safety device for an electric circuit, which can be easily formed with the same and normal solder as used for connecting electrical parts, while having high reliability as a fuse and simultaneously being capable of reducing manufacturing cost, can be realized.

    • The fuse is used in the medium- and high-voltage sector and has two spaced-apart power supply connections (2, 3) and an active part (1). The active part comprises a fusible, current-carrying fuse element and an arc-extinguishing medium. The fuse element is connected in an electrically conducting manner to the two power supply connections and is arranged on an electrically insulating substrate. It is of a modular construction and has at least two modules (9) connected in series. The arc-extinguishing medium covers the exposed surfaces of the fuse element. The active part is formed in the manner of a sandwich and has two stable moldings (4, 5) and a predominantly planar intermediate layer (6) arranged between the moldings (4, 5). The intermediate layer (6) contains at least the two series-connected modules, whereas a first molding (4) of the two moldings is formed at least by part of the electrically insulating substrate and the second molding (5) is formed at least by part of the arc-extinguishing medium. The fuse is distinguished by a simple construction and by favorable triggering characteristics.

    • The present invention relates to a fuse and a method for forming a fuse over a semiconductor substrate. The fuse comprises forming a first contact member and a second contact member over a respective first region and a second region of a patterned, electrically-conductive silicide layer, wherein the first contact member and the second contact member electrically contact the silicide layer, thereby defining a first interface and a second interface, respectively. A first contact area and a second contact area are associated with the respective first contact member and second contact member, wherein the first contact area is larger than the second contact area, thereby defining a fusible link at the second interface. According to one example, the silicide resides over a patterned polysilicon layer, wherein the patterned polysilicon layer generally tapered, and wherein the first region is wider than the second region.

    • A semiconductor device with repair fuses is provided, which decrease the fuse pitch and the fuse occupation area without short circuit among the adjoining repair fuses and damage to the semiconductor device itself. The device comprises (a) a semiconductor substrate; (b) elongated repair fuses having an equal width b formed on the substrate; the fuses being arranged in substantially parallel to each other at a pitch a; (c) a layer formed to cover the fuses; the layer having an opening that exposes the fuses and that allows the fuses to receive a laser beam from the outside; the beam having a placement tolerance h for each fuse; the beam being designed to form an irradiation area with a diameter d for each fuse in the opening; the irradiation area for each fuse being arranged along a virtual zigzag shape in the opening; and (d) a relationship of d ≥ a ≥ ( b + d 2 + h ) is established. Preferably, each fuse has a reference point at a middle point of its exposed part from the opening. Each area is located in such a way that a center of the area has an offset distance e from the reference point of the corresponding fuse. The offset distance e satisfies the relationship of 2e≧{square root over (d2+L −a2+L )}. It is preferred that the opening is substantially rectangular.
