    • An improved high performance twisted pair data cable (20) than has an impedance standard deviation of less than 3.5 when the standard deviation is calculated around an average impedance of 50 to 200 ohms and preferably 90 to 110 ohms. The twisted pair is helically wrapped with a metal shield tape (16) at a tension that provides a cross-sectional void of less than 25% and preferably less than 18% of the cross-sectional area of the shielded twisted pair cable. The tape is helically wrapped with an overlap of 30-45% and at an angle of 35-45 degrees with respect to the longitudinal axis of the cable. The cable has a rating up to 600 MHz.

    • An improved cable for audio applications having multiple, interlaced, counter-rotating conductors in a twin helical pattern is disclosed. Preferred embodiments of the present invention include a first set of conductors configured into longitudinally offset, co-axial helices along with a second set of conductors configured into a substantially parallel group of longitudinally offset, co-axial helices which are interlaced with said first set of conductors such that, with each rotation of said helices, a conductor from the first set of helices overlaps and interlaces with a conductor from the second set of helices. The first and second sets of helices rotate in opposite directions to achieve proper interlacing engagement.

    • A data communication cable includes a cable jacket surrounding a plurality of twisted pairs of insulated conductors disposed longitudinally over the length of the communication cable and arranged side-by-side to reduce cross-talk between the twisted pairs. The cable also includes a first region having a first thickness disposed between two regions having a second thickness. These regions, or another structure located on the outer surface of the jacket, are arranged to prevent symmetric stacking of several communication cables and thus reduce alien cross-talk arising from outside of the communication cable.

    • A flexible power cable includes a plurality of power conductors each having insulation thereon and being arranged to form interstices between adjacent ones of the power conductors. Each of the power conductors includes a plurality of conductor strands. An insulated grounding conductor is provided in each interstice and together with the power conductors define a conductor bundle. An inner jacket surrounds the conductor bundle. A flexible, braided sheath member surrounds the inner jacket and is constructed and arranged to limit transmission and susceptibility to electromagnetic and radio frequency interference. An outer polymeric jacket surrounds the braided sheath member. The insulation of the power conductors and of the grounding conductors is lubricated so that the power conductors and the grounding conductors may move relative to each other and with respect to the inner jacket upon flexing of the cable.

    • A coaxial cable [10, 50] includes an inner conductor [11] that is separated from an outer conductor [13] by a layer of insulating material [12]. The outer conductor includes a thin sheet of metallic foil that envelops the insulating material and has a seam [14] that extends in the longitudinal direction of the cable. In a first embodiment, the insulated conductor is axially rotated (twisted) with respect to its own longitudinal axis. In a second embodiment, the outer conductor is wrapped around the layer of insulating material. In both embodiments, there is relative rotation between the insulated conductor and the outer conductor. This practice is referred to as relative insulated conductor rotation, and it significantly improves the structural return loss characteristics of a coaxial cable when the outer conductor includes an asymmetry, such as a seam, that extends in the longitudinal direction of the cable. A braided-wire shield [15] is positioned between the outer conductor and a plastic jacket [16], which provides environmental protection for the cable.
