The user may enter a character string of a desired destination into the navigation system using a user input device. The navigation system will search for points of interest in the database for the character string. In this manner, the user will be able to locate a point of interest from the database while having a partially incorrect name. Additionally, the navigation system may relate the points of interest to the vehicle location, such as by vehicle direction or proximity of the points of interest to the vehicle.

摘要： Methods and systems are provided for obtaining information related to a customer service location and directions for routing a service technician from one customer service location to another. One embodiment includes requesting at least one set of coordinates associated with the customer service location; accessing a technician server to direct a global satellite positioning system to obtain the set of coordinates for the customer service location; obtaining the coordinates and updating one or more databases with said coordinates. The coordinates may include at least one of a latitude and a longitude associated with the customer service location. Another embodiment includes obtaining through a technician server at least one set of “from” coordinates associated with the first customer service location and at least one set of “to” coordinates associated with the second customer location; transmitting the “from” and “to” coordinates to a mapping system; and, generating directions in the mapping system based on the “to” and “from” coordinates. At least one of the sets of coordinates includes latitude and longitude data. System and computer-readable media embodiments of these methods are also provided.

This may be done by receiving a plurality of road points, determining a road profile value based on at least a portion of the road points and determining whether the road profile value exceeds a road profile threshold value. It may also be done by computing a suggested vehicle speed, when the road profile value exceeds the road profile threshold value, comparing the suggested vehicle speed to a sensed vehicle speed and sending an excessive speed alert to the vehicle based on the comparison.

摘要： A program and method for route calculation for use with a navigation system and used with a map database that represents a road network in a geographic region. A route calculation program is adapted to find at least one solution route between a first location on a road network and a second location on the road network. The route calculation program includes a first search tree associated with the first location and a second search tree associated with the second location. Each search tree is adapted to hold gates. Each of the gates represents a physical position on the road network and a direction from the position to another location along a path on the road network. The route calculation program also includes at least one priority queue associated with one of the search trees. The priority queue assigns a priority to one of the gates in the associated search tree based upon an evaluation using a search algorithm. The gate identified as having a higher priority than any other gate in its respective search tree is expanded to determine one or more successor gates thereof. Each of these successor gates so formed is compared to the gates in the other search tree. The process of growing at least one of the search trees by expanding the gate in the search tree that has a higher priority than any other gate in the search tree is continued until a gate in one search tree corresponds to at least one gate in the other search tree.
