    • A cable stayed bridge is constructed as having approach deck spans and at least one cable stayed deck bridge section assembled as a unit by employing the deck surfaces of the approach spans as in situ work surfaces for erecting equal deck lengths of the unit. A bridge pylon is supported on a floatable support and extends through an open gap provided in an approach span deck, and cable stays are extended from the pylon for supporting the deck lengths. The completed unit is moved away from the work surfaces and into alignment with a last of the approach spans, and is permanently anchored in place.

    • For the construction step by step of a reinforced concrete bridge, the portions of the bridge are reinforced and concreted on site by using a shuttering (17) fixed to a centering (16). After the setting of the concrete and withdrawal of auxiliary supports (30) (in the case where the portion in question does not rest on a main pile (12)), the centering is lowered with the casing on rails (32) of a portion and lifted at the level of the lower part of the bridge. Then a new deshuttering is made. In the case of settling grounds, the rear end of the centering may whereby be anchored at the end of the previously completed portion. In order to allow the centering to move beyond the pile, respectively beyond the auxiliary supports, arrangements are made so as to allow to move all the portions of the centering or of the casing which are located in the section of the piles or the support, beyond that section. To this effect, the transverse beams (41, 42) are displaceably arranged on longitudinal beams (48) and the shuttering plates on the lower portion may be folded back downwardly. This folding back is effected progressively on the length of the scaffolding.

    • A bridge construction system includes a first independent longitudinal truss (40) positioned over a first bridge section (2), and a second independent longitudinal truss (40a) positioned over a second section (4). A gantry (50) is movably mounted on the trusses (40, 40a), the gantry (50) having a first leg (210) mounted to the first truss (40) and a second leg (200) mounted to the second truss (40a), the gantry (50) being drivable along the first and second trusses (40, 40a). A gantry drive (940) is provided for controllably driving the gantry (50) along the trusses (40, 40a). A transverse trolley (240) is movably mounted on the gantry (50), the trolley (240) being drivable along the gantry (50) in a direction generally transverse to the longitudinal trusses (40, 40a). The trolley (240) includes a winch (260) for lifting and carrying bridge components to be positioned along the bridge spans over which the longitudinal trusses (40, 40a) are mounted. The trolley (240) is selectively positionable over each of the bridge sections (2, 4).
