摘要： A mesophase pitch suitable for carbon products, particularly for carbon fibers, which has a mesophase content of at least 40%, preferably at least 60%, and a larger mesophase domain, is produced by adding at least one part by weight of at least one of an alcohol and a phenol to 100 parts by weight of heavy bitumens, subjecting the resulting mixture to pretreatment by heating at least at 250°C, and then subjecting the pretreated mixture to heat treatment until mesophases are formed.

摘要： A low melting point, low molecular weight, heptane insoluble, 1,2,4-trichlorobenzene soluble mesophase pitch useful in carbon fiber spinning as such or as plasticizer in a carbon fiber spinning composition is obtained by heating chrysene, triphenylene, paraterphenyl, a mixture thereof or a hydrocarbon fraction containing one or more thereof, contacting the resulting heat treated material with 1, 2, 4-trichlorobenzene, and then contacting the 1, 2, 4-trichlorobenzene soluble fraction with a sufficient amount of heptane to precipitate the low melting point, low molecular weight mesophase pitch. Generally the pitch product has a melting point less than 250°C and a molecular weight (vapor phase osmometryl of less than 1000.

摘要： In a process for producing carbon fibres from coal tar pitch, the coal tar pitch is filtered before being spun and the pitch filtrate is distilled in a thin-film evaporator in order to increase its softening point over 260° C. A pure and homogeneous hard pitch is thus obtained, without the re-formation of infusable, chinolin-insoluble components. The most difficult and cost intensive step of the fibre production process, namely the thermal aftertreatment of the spun pitch fibres, can thus be easily and quickly carried out. The subsequent thermal treatment is carried out in a cyclic treatment installation.

摘要： The fatty ether compounds possess low viscosity and low temperature melting point properties and may be used as viscosity modifiers in cosmetics and vegetable oil based biodegradable hydraulic fluids and dielectric fluids. The fatty ethers are of formula (I) wherein R is selected from C7-C17 aliphatic hydrocarbons saturated or unsaturated, linear or branched, and optionally substituted, with one or more hydroxy groups; R is selected from linear or branched C1-C24 hydrocarbons saturated or unsaturated, linear or branched, aliphatic or aromatic, and optionally substituted by one or more hydroxyl, halo, or amine groups; with the proviso that when R is aromatic, it is limited to an optionally substituted six member carbon ring; and R2 is selected from hydrogen or from linear or branched C1-C24 hydrocarbons saturated or unsaturated, linear or branched, aliphatic or aromatic, and optionally substituted by one ore more hydroxyl, halo, or amine groups; with the proviso that when R2 is aromatic, it is limited to an optionally substituted six member carbon ring; and x is an integer from 2 to 4. These fatty ester ether compounds are produced by reaction of the hydroxy fatty acid or lactone with an alcohol in the presence of an acid catalyst. The fatty ether esters are recovered, or hydrolyzed to fatty ether acids, or transesterified with a different alcohol in the presence of an acid catalyst to alternate ester variants.

摘要： The disclosed bonding pitch for electrodes, having a softening point C.I.A. comprised between 80°C and 150°C, a concentration of quinoline-insoluble substances higher or equal to 4% by weight, a concentration of alpha+beta resins comprised between 28 and 40% by weight, and a fixed carbon content determined according to the standard ISO 6998, at least equal to 51% by weight, is characterized by a vitreous transition domain DELTATg, determined by differential calorimetric analysis, at the most equal to 50°C. In order to produce such a pitch, a pitch having a content of quinoline-insoluble substances lower than 4% by weight is subjected to a treatment by waves having a frequency between 0.9 and 300 GHz. Such treatment makes possible the increase of the carbon content of the pitch while preserving a good affinity to the coke and significantly decreasing its vitreous transitional domain.
