    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a polymerizable compound capable of satisfying both high refraction index and high light resistance; a photocurable composition including the compound; an optical element, such as a wavelength-selective diffraction element 1A etc., with favorable light resistance to blue laser; and an optical head device using the optical element. SOLUTION: The polymerizable compound is represented by GeA 1 A 2 A 3 A 4 in which germanium and four cyclic groups are directly bonded (wherein each of A 1 , A 2 , A 3 and A 4 is preferably a phenyl group; each of 0 to 3 hydrogen atoms of the phenyl group may be substituted by a polymerizable part represented by CH 2 =CR-COO-Y-; one part or total part of remaining hydrogen atoms of the cyclic groups may be substituted by methyl groups or fluorine atoms; and any one of cyclic groups A 1 , A 2 , A 3 and A 4 may be substituted by the polymerizable part represented by CH 2 =CR-COO-Y-).
