    • An ergonomic miter saw is provided having a base and a saw arm assembly with the saw arm assembly pivotally affixed at a fixed end to the base and provided with a distal end having a handle extending outwardly therefrom. The central region of the arm assembly includes a rotary spindle supporting a cutting disk. A handle is preferably provided with an elongate grip portion sized for the user's fingers and a palm pad portion extending outwardly therefrom to underlie the heal of the user's hand to minimize bending torque on the user's wrist as the arm is lowered. Ideally, the handle is rotated in a direction opposite that the cutting disk is tilted. Preferably, the handle is adjustably oriented about the arm axis in a direction opposite that the saw blade is tiltable so that the deviation for horizontal of the handle can be minimized when the miter saw is used in a tilted cutting disk mode.

    • A hand-operated combination two-and-three-hole puncher for making holes in paper and other sheet materials is shown and described. The two-hole punch assembly and the three-hole punch assembly are fixedly disposed on the common platform either in-line, or at a predetermined angle, to each other in such manner that both punch assemblies share a common punch subassembly and a common foot. The common punch subassembly could be activated using either the press lever frame of the two-hole punch assembly or the press lever frame of the three-hole punch assembly thus enabling the common punch subassembly to punch a hole in the process of the two-hole perforation or the three-hole perforation without the readjustment.

    • A microtome comprising a knife holding device for a cutting element (16) and comprising a specimen holding device (12) for a specimen which is to be cut thin is described. Associated with the specimen holding device (12) for performing a cutting movement is a first drive device (18) and associated with the specimen holding device (12) or the knife holding device is a second drive device (38) for performing a feed movement. A sender (20) is associated with the first drive device (18). The sender (20) is connected with an electronic control means (28). Control of the first drive device (18) is effected by means of a first operating element (28). Control of the second drive device (38) is effected by means of a second operating element (44). To achieve an excellent degree of operating comfort for the microtome the first operating element (28) has two control modes, namely a standard mode and a second mode. In the standard mode the cutting movement of the specimen holding device is controlled by rotation of the first operating element (28). In the second mode a continuous cutting function is activated by pressing the first operating element (28). Corresponding to the first operating element (28) the second operating element (44) has two control modes, namely a rotary mode and a pressing mode.

    • A meat slicing apparatus for cutting meat and collecting residue from the meat. The meat slicing apparatus includes a container having four walls and a bottom surface. Each wall has a plurality of vertically aligned slots running from a top portion of the container to a distance slightly above the bottom surface. Each slot is aligned with a corresponding slot located on an opposite wall. A knife is positioned within corresponding slots to cut the meat held in the container. The container collects any juices or residue coming from the meat. The apparatus also includes a retaining utensil having several prongs for holding and handling the meat.

    • A punching device for punching a hole in a sheet of material, comprising a metal body having an upper part and a lower part each having a front end and a rear end and an aperture between the two ends. The apertures have substantially identical shape and size and being horizontally aligned with each other. The upper and lower body parts are interconnected at their rear ends and vertically spaced apart to form a horizontal planar gap therebetween into which a said sheet may be inserted for punching. The punching device includes a punching die having a cross-section of a substantially identical shape and size as the apertures and supported within the upper aperture for downward movement across the gap into the lower aperture thereby punching a hole in a said sheet. A spacer is located in the gap for limiting undesirable downward movement of the upper body part relative to the lower body part during a punching action.
