Wesentliche Schritte des Niederdruckgießverfahrens nach der Erfindung sind das Evakuieren der schmelzenaufnehmenden Ausnehmungen (2, 3, 5) des Gießwerkzeuges (1), das anschließende Einbringen der Metallschmelze mit relativ niedriger Strömungsgeschwindigkeit in die schmelzenaufnehmenden Ausnehmungen und das Aufbringen eines Nachdruckes auf die Metallschmelze im Gießwerkzeug über einen angießfernen Schmelzenüberschuß sowie gegebenenfalls zusätzlich auch über das Angießsystem selbst. Das Evakuieren der schmelzenaufnehmenden Ausnehmungen des Gießwerkzeuges sowie das Aufbringen des Nachdrukkes über einen angießfernen Schmelzenüberschuß kann mittels eines mit dem 0berlaufkanal (5) des Gießwerkzeuges in dichtendem Eingriff bringbaren Hohlteils (13) erfolgen.

    • The invention relates to an automatic low-pressure diecasting machine, notably for mass-production equipments. The casting takes place through a heat-insulated distribution chamber thermally insulated from the lower portion of the mould structure and delivering the molten metal directly to the mould impression or impressions through a series of substantially vertical feed metal inlet passages formed through the mould bottom. The distribution chamber, of relatively simple design, extends substantially over the entire area of the lower mould impression which requires the presence of such feed metal inlet passages. This machine is intended more particularly for light-alloy castings.

    • A casting machine adapted for the manufacture of precision investment castings of the type used in dental applications has a burner arm assembly including a torch and means adapted to sealingly engage and pressurize a mold assembly. The mold assembly is positioned on a support member and is heated by the burner assembly, after which it is raised against the burner assembly. Vacuum is drawn through the support member, and molten metal is caused to flow from the crucible portion into the mold portion of the mold assembly, and by also supplying gas under positive pressure to the crucible portion to facilitate such flow. Control means extinguish the burner assembly and operate the vacuum as well as the produce movement of the support member.

    • A method and apparatus for making dental castings wherein the crucible is supported on a platform having a central opening positioned beneath the crucible opening over the mold cavity of the investment, which, in turn, is supported on a platform having a central opening. The upper platform is lowered against the investment so that a single sealed vessel comprising the crucible and investment cavity is formed. Air is then admitted to the crucible and investment cavity at a point beneath the crucible opening so that both the investment and crucible may be purged, an arc is formed in the crucible thereby melting the casting material, and air under pressure is admitted to the top of a crucible thereby causing the molten casting material to flow into the investment cavity.
