    • A central steel column serves as a core module for a portable washstand. The column extends upwardly from a horizontal foot, and has foot pumps which communicate with a water intake tube and with water spouts. In addition, the central column has fasteners, such as adjustable bands, for connecting fresh and waste water receptacles to the column. A yoke may have pins which extend into the rims of the receptacles to connect them to the column. The receptacles may be conventional cylindrical drums, which support a molded plastic countertop with washbasins positioned beneath the spouts. For decorative purposes, a molded front panel extends between the countertop and the base, and together with a sheet rear panel encloses the two drums. Paper towel and soap dispensers may be connected to the central column.

    • A sink form for use in installing a sink having laterally extending flanges in a countertop is preferably formed of a plastic material, such as nylon or polypropylene resin. It is preferably made to the exact shape of the cut-out opening for the sink, although for round or oval sinks, the form may consist of a flexible strip of the proper cross-section cut to length as required to match the opening. The sink form has a cross section consisting of a downwardly extending portion which is secured to the edges of the opening, a laterally extending flange portion, and, at the outer edge of the flange portion, an upstanding vertical portion terminating in an outwardly curved part. The downwardly extending portion is secured to the edge of the cut-out opening with the laterally extending flange portion spaced away from the countertop to allow for a layer of concrete float material between the flange portion and the countertop. The outwardly curved part has a curvature matching the inside curvature of the quarter round tiles which are installed over the sink flanges. The sink form may include a continuous bottom enclosing the form.

    • An apparatus for filling buckets, pails or other containers with water or other fluid from faucets, and a method of filling containers with fluid using the apparatus. The apparatus comprises an attachment unit or funnel that is placed over a faucet, a hose, and a tip at the opposite end of the hose with a hook to retain the bottom end of the hose in the bucket. The attachment unit is generally cylindrical and made of a solid foam that has a closed cellular structure. The attachment unit can be screwed on and off the upper end of the hose. In a first preferred embodiment the attachment unit is configured for standard faucets, with an opening in the center of its top and a vertical channel. In a second preferred embodiment the attachment unit is configured for contemporary faucets, with an opening in its side and a curved channel.

    • There is disclosed a waste prevention system which avoids the discharge, inadvertent or otherwise, of laboratory waste, into a public sewage system and subsequently into the natural environment. The system employs, in combination, a laboratory sink having cooperatively connect thereto a carboy for collecting pollutants. The carboy is provided with elements to permit removal of samples of materials delivered thereto from the sink for testing of the same to determine the presence of pollutants. In the event no pollutants are present, the carboy may simply be opened and any wash or rinse water from the sink can be delivered into a public sewage system and then to the environment. In the event testing indicates the presence of pollutants, the carboy then can be filled to the required level, which is indicated by a sensing device connected electrically to signaling devices, such as a horn and/or light and which is also connected to the source of washing water and automatically will stop the flow of such washing water into the sink. The carboy can then be removed from the system and stored and/or disposed of, as desired.
