摘要： There is disclosed a waste prevention system which avoids the discharge, inadvertent or otherwise, of laboratory waste, into a public sewage system and subsequently into the natural environment. The system employs, in combination, a laboratory sink having cooperatively connect thereto a carboy for collecting pollutants. The carboy is provided with elements to permit removal of samples of materials delivered thereto from the sink for testing of the same to determine the presence of pollutants. In the event no pollutants are present, the carboy may simply be opened and any wash or rinse water from the sink can be delivered into a public sewage system and then to the environment. In the event testing indicates the presence of pollutants, the carboy then can be filled to the required level, which is indicated by a sensing device connected electrically to signaling devices, such as a horn and/or light and which is also connected to the source of washing water and automatically will stop the flow of such washing water into the sink. The carboy can then be removed from the system and stored and/or disposed of, as desired.

摘要： A reversible toilet paper roll holder. The reversible toilet paper roll holder has a base with an arm extending through the base. The arm is rotatably secured to a locking notch that enables a user to lock the device in a pair of orientations. A horizontal support is connected to a distal end of the arm, and a pair of lateral supports are each connected to the horizontal support. In one embodiment, a pair of lateral supports can secure a toilet paper roll therebetween, while in other embodiments, the pair of lateral supports can secure a compressible rod therebetween. The compressible rod can be threaded through a central bore of a roll of toilet paper. The orientation of the arm can be rotated to reverse the direction at which toilet paper is dispensed by rotating the toilet paper roll without removing the toilet paper roll from the device.

摘要： A gas turbine component, such as a turbine disk or a turbine seal element, is protected by depositing an oxide coating on the gas turbine component. The deposition is performed by a vapor deposition process such as metal-organic chemical vapor deposition (MOCVD) to a coating thickness of from about 0.2 to about 50 micrometers, preferably from about 0.5 to about 3 micrometers. The deposited oxide may be an oxide of aluminum, silicon, tantalum, titanium, and chromium.

摘要： A substrate is protected by a multilayer protective coating having an oxide layer, and a phosphate/organic binder layer initially overlying the oxide layer. The multilayer protective coating is cured by first degassing the multilayer protective coating in a pre-cure degassing temperature range of from about 250° F. to about 500° F. for a time of at least about 30 minutes. The multilayer protective coating is thereafter heated to a curing temperature range of from about 1200° F. to about 1400° F. for a time of at least about 30 minutes.
